[CHRONIC] Do you like Jordan Hill? He could be Morey's price for doing a McGrady deal

Yes I know that but what other 3rd team is going to part ways with their assets for T-Mac or whoever NY has to offer? There is only one team... I repeat one team that's pushing really hard for T-Mac and that's NY. I think you fail to realize that. Other teams wants TMac strictly for cap space reasons. And guess what you get from those teams... Junk offers.

Would Chicago like to make a move for T-Mac? Of course they would so they can get as much cap space for this summer.

McGrady has more value than Jordan Hill. Jordan Hill has potential to be a good backup PF.

His value in a trade is as a sweetner to the deal, not as the primary player Houston chases.

NY is looking at McGrady not for salary cap relief, they already have expiring contracts. They are looking at him as their starting SF, while Hill would be a backup PF to Landry at best.

I guess the real question is, has there ever really been a good deal for the Rockets yet?

Anyway, I'm good with the NY trade if we can get Hill. I'm not too keen on letting TMac expire or be bought out (the latter being very unlikely of course).

If its Harrington, Hill or Douglas, & Mobley for McGrady I'll take it!

    If not no deal.

I think Washington was using the Rockets to make a deal happen between Dallas. I'm not sold they were looking to trade for T-Mac based on what I've read. Morey was unwilling to part ways with someone from our core.

No, he's not. If Jordan Hill were exceptionally quick and fast, he would be playing on a bad Knicks team that is coached by the #1 run and gun coach in the NBA. Hill does not have great footspeed. He does not have great athleticism. His hops are average. And his quickness into his moves and getting off the floor is very pedestrian. He does have a skillset with the jump hooks and the jump shot, but his mechanics are slow, he has a slow release, and you can see all that in the video where he is working out. There is a reason he is not playing this year. Sure he is light and all that. But outside of Big David, NY has available minutes for bigs. He can't get minutes on a team that is a run and gun team.

This doesn't mean Hill is a bust. I think he will have a decent NBA career. But every NBA player that plays beyond 3 years has a decent NBA career. I think he will probably play in the league for 10 years if he doesn't suffer a serious injury. But Erick Dampier has played in the league for that long. And Dampier is very average..........at best. Having size and length is one thing. You either have to have exceptional athleticism or exceptional bball iq to go along with size and skills to be anything above average. Hill doesn't have exceptional athleticism and up to this point, he has demonstrated his bball iq is average at best. It all spells out AVERAGE.

Seems to me that we have a first rounder this year and it's going to be worth a lot more than Donte Green was. We also have at least one young player who is worth as much (and actually more) as Donte Green was in Budinger.

All of a sudden we would have a starting package of a top 20 pick, Budinger, and Hill at a MINIMUM to start discussing trades- either a S&T for a big name like Bosh (or insert available star player coming up this summer), or perhaps to move up in the draft if there is a guy we really like. Obviously Landry, Scola, Brooks, and Lowry will enter the talks depending on who we are aiming for.

That's essentially 3 young, cheap, first round pick talents and a combination of cheap, good players to offer.

Getting other expiring contracts will help us get under the luxury tax this season. That's why we do it...and that we really don't need this Mcgrady situation to get uglier than it is. If we get one even halfway decent asset from them, we make the trade. That's 3 reasons to do it- under the LT, through with Mcgrady, and gain something for future trades.

They're looking at McGrady for more than just starting at the SF position.

How can you be so sure Hill will only be a backup PF? If you can get a player in a great system, there's no telling how well that player might grow.

well wikipedia has him listed at 6'10" so I'm going off that but anyways if Morey make a move for Hill than add that too my " As we drink the Morey Kool-Aid" post cause like somebody said he is projected to be a Wilcox type player. I rather have someone proven like Thomas (already proven and 23 years old). I know he is expiring but if we lock him up and have him run w/Landry at the 4 for many yrs to come. SICK DUO

you must be on something if you think McGrady is more valuable than Hill.

Hill is a tall rookie making $3 mil avg. for 4 years.

McGrady is a hobbled expiring contract.

Well if you won't take my word for it, as someone who saw him get out-quick every post player that ever guarded him in the post at Arizona, you can atleast take the official scouting reports by scouts for what its worth.
He wasn't a lottery pick because of his skillset or passing ability, etc.

Then hopefully we can flip him to Toronto as part of a deal for Bosh. We ain't got time to watch him develop over the next 3 years. We need impact NOW! HILL IS NOT IT!

jopatmc probably thinks we should get more than Hill, or something better than Hill in a deal with New York. I agree with him. If we came away simply with Hill, I'll be disappointed.

I think this is what Morey is trying to do in a S&T in the off season.

I really hope we get Hill and flip him for Bosh

I won't be ecastic, but if we can get Hill and get under LT, then I would be satisfied, as I think that's as how good as we will get at this point.
