I had read about the story about the guy before I saw the movie. But honestly this was one of the sappiest movies I've ever seen. I would give it 2/10. Another movie which was brutally bad was The Blindside. Cool story, but terrible movie. 2/10 as well.
That might be because you read the book before. But Will Smith was pretty amazing in that movie IMO, and if you weren't moved by the film idk what moves you..
The Hurt Locker. 8/10 Anyone know what's the one thing he loves when he was talking to his baby? Not sure if he meant his child, adrenaline, or something else
Armageddon. I've seen it before, and dropped in at about halfway through the movie yesterday. This movie delivered chills multiple times. I don't cry in movies, but this one almost had me shedding tears. Plus.. You can't go wrong with Liv Tyler - one of America's true beauties. 10/10
Couple Retreat (65%) - Pretty disappointing considering the cast is fairly strong. Not sure why they didn't go with an R rating since it's obviously targeting adults...it would have been much better, in my opinion. I do give it some credit for having a decent message attached to it though. I happened to be watching it with my ex (we're in the process of trying to work things out) and they said a lot of things that hit home with me (and her, I assume). So decent movie, decent message. But I wouldn't watch again.
Spoiler Pretty sure he meant the job; so yeah the rush he gets from diffusing bombs. His whole storyline seems to gravitate towards that conclusion. Plus the very next scene shows him beginning another tour
The Awful Truth - 7/10 Old school romantic comedy with Carey Grant. I liked it just fine, it was funny.
Do you like basketball? Do you like people getting elbowed? Check this movie out it has both, and I gave it a 10/10... Woody Allen's Whatever Works. I like many Woody Allen movies, but he can turn out some bad stuff. Unfortunately, I think he doesn't have a producer to tell him his script isn't worth making into a movie. There were actually a couple things in it that made me laugh out loud, which is better than most comedies. But, there's so much sophistry, and bs, and two-dimensional characters, that it's not worth watching for a couple of jokes. And, some bad acting. Plus, he again features a relationship between an old man (who acts a lot like Woody Allen) and some young hottie -- yeah, I know, you're a pervert; you don't have to put it in every movie you make. 3/10.
Inglourious Basterds One of my favorite movies in the past 10 years easily. 9.9/10 Highly, highly entertaining.
Apparently it was an old script of his from the 70's that he dusted off in order to make something just before the writer's strike hit. I didn't hate but it was definitely pretty mediocre for the reasons you described.
Taxi Driver - 8/10 I will admit, after finishing the movie my first thought was "I don't get it. What was so great about this movie?" I thought it was quite boring until the final scene. That might have to do with the fact that i watched the first half almost half asleep. Anyway, I decided to read Roger Ebert's take on it. He made me realize alot of the stuff that I didn't notice and definitely raised my appreciation of the movie. Maybe its a movie that requires more than one viewing.
The Box - 6/10 It was completely absurb, but it was pretty gripping up until a certain point. And while it may have been absurd, it kept me pretty entertained. Better than I expected.
Paris With Love - 6/10. I liked Travolta's character to an extent, but it was just ridiculously over the top after a while with him never catching a single bullet the entire movie.
I'd rate Hurt Locker as 9/10...so well done that you almost think it's a documentary instead of a movie. I agree with you about his loves - an adrenaline junky as exemplified by the "trophies" he kept under his bunk. At least he knew who he was. DR
The Stepfather - 7/10 Cool seeing nip/tuck doctor play a bad guy. 2012 - 8/10 Great special effects Single white female 2 - 6/10
