You don't want Croshere over Eddie Jones. Brian Grant has always been a favorite of mine, if he was a little meaner ala Dale Davis he could anchor the middle at the PF and be a physical presence. Croshere is a rare commidity in that he is just now getting it, will get even better, and how many 4's can shoot from the 3 and have his athleticism. He has serious ups. (I lost my mind when he went baseline in a regular season game and reversed dunked from almost outside the paint on the other side of the lane, I am not kidding.) The only thing you have to think about is he isn't as good as he has looked in the finals, but he is better than his season avgs of 10 and 6. I will be very, very interested to see what kind of cash he demands. I will say, imho, that he isn't a franchise guy, but is an extremely nice piece. He does need to play next to a defensive minded center because he is only 9 months into being a PF. He is vulnerable to big strong 4's in the league unless he puts on another 10 to 15 lbs of muscle, which he did last summer. Of course, those same bulky PFs have a hell of a time guarding Austin 23 feet away from the basket, too. He is, almost, unguardable when his shot is on.

    Croshere or Grant?

    Croshere.

    Why?

Croshere has already outdone what Grant did vs. the Lakers. AC will also have a much lower contract than Grant does when its said and done. IMO Grant is highly overpaid.

We have gotta get this guy.

Rockets03, I used to think the same thing when his name was first mentioned, but I've closely watched him throughout the playoffs and came to one conclusion.

    This guy is for real!

He may not be the most exciting and dominating player in the NBA, but he hustles, bangs and straight out scraps more than any other player I've seen that gets so little attention. Croshere can shoot, rebound, and pass He isn't afraid to take hits and dish them out. He goes to the basket with authority and makes everyone around him better with his work ethic.

Like Hoop-T said, his game is alot more well rounded than we give him credit for. The kid is a gamer. He is exactly what the Rockets need. If anyone should get the exception we have, it is him.

Perhaps the answer-this is from the ESPN board, by Qwertle8-

Croshere DID sign a contract extension that gave him one more year under contract (I believe it was the first week of November he signed it) the Pacers thought it would give him confidence and let him not worry about the offseason.

It seems to have worked, but it is a player option year and he is expected to opt out to make more money (going from memory it pays him $2 million if he doesn't opt out).
