    Who didn't see this?

Remember when we played he had some 8 blocks? Our leading blocker is Battier averaging like 2. Yeah he will take contested shots like Ron. he could be considered a "punk" though, suspended for yelling at Coach Vinny Del Negro (Finally someone did it!).

But Salmons... Eh, he's like the second coming of Ariza. High expectations to fill the scoring hole Ben Gordon left, didn't deliver.

I guess I'm just biased because Chi is my #2 team and I'd love to keep TMac in my bball alliance.

Bring on Tyrus. His shot blocking could be a big boost.

I'm pretty certain there's a trade brewing that nobody is thinking of. When's the last time a proposed trade/rumor came true?

exactly. and we heard rumors from a few teams, but there are still some "sellers" left on the market. chicago, detroit, golden state, indiana, philadelphia, phoenix, sacramento, and utah are all rumored to be trying to get out of larger contracts.

we've been linked to chicago, philadelphia, phoenix, and sacramento. so, i bet its detroit, golden state, indiana, or utah that we will trade with

    Can't argue on this one.

If Chicago WERE in the mix, I'd see if there were a third team out there that had more along the lines of what we need. I can see Thomas' shot-blocking on the team, and his running the fast break, and Salmons has played for Adelman before; and I'm not so dead-set AGAINST Hinrich, but he's a PG....

We'd have more depth, and we'd have tradeable pieces, but does a trade with Chicago make anyone go "thank you sir may I have another" around here?

So true. Something I have been thinking about is Memphis has lost a few in a row and they were shopping Gay for a defensive vet. Think we could also get Thabeet from them. A move like that would really jolt this fanbase.

For it to match salary wise the trade will likely be as follows TMAC and Joey Dorsey for Tyrus Thomas, Brad Miller and John Salmons. If you include Brian Cook you could switch Salmons with Hinrich.

Houstons logic Thomas and Brad Miller have expiring contract and Salmons has one yr left after this season. Hinrich is a very tradeable assset that can shoot, play both guard positions and plays good defense. Sounds like a Morey move to me no core players lost, cap flexibility, potential undervalued talent and possibly 1 to 2 players that are familiar with Rick Adelmans system. Not a attractive move but a good one.

I actually wouldn't be totally upset if the Rockets traded McGrady's contract to Chicago for John Salmons ($5.8M in 2010-11 if he doesn't opt out of his deal), Brad Miller ($12M expiring contract) and Tyrus Thomas ($4.7M expiring contract).

Even with the down year he's having, I think John Salmons is a decent SG who can defend. He's certainly better than anything the Rockets currently have at SG (Ariza, Battier and Budinger are all SFs). Plus, at $5.8M, his salary wouldn't be that bad (assuming that the Rockets weren't planning on using that cap room and instead opt to keep Scola and Lowry). And if Salmons plays well enough for the remainder of the season, he may even opt out of his deal, meaning that the Rockets would have not taken on ANY additional 2010-11 salary. Still, taking on Salmon (and the risk of him not opting out) would be the impetus for Chicago trading Miller and Thomas.

Brad Miller is a perfect half-season rental to man the center position in Adelman's offense. He's still a good jump shooter and can still play hard (albeit not great) defense. He's basically a tougher version of what everyone hoped David Andersen would become. If he doesn't pan out, just let him go this summer. If he gels with the team, maybe Morey tries to re-sign him on the cheap to a two-year deal.

Tyrus Thomas is the wildcard here. The fact that other teams want him actually makes him a nice asset to flip or to bring in a third team to this trade. For instance, Portland is offering the expiring contract of either Steve Blake or Travis Outlaw, plus two second round picks. If the Rockets flipped Thomas to Portland for Outlaw, Morey would get those extra picks he always likes to have (which could also be used to move up in the draft), plus Outlaw is an intriguing talent who I actually think is better than Thomas. The Rockets would have Outlaw's Bird rights if they wanted to try to retain him beyond this year.

This trade (with Thomas being flipped for Outlaw) doesn't get Houston under the luxury tax, but it does cut about $0.5M off of team salary, meaning that the Rockets can get under the tax by trading Andersen instead of Cook.

That said, it may be that Morey and Les want nothing to do with Salmon's salary next season, so this may be a non-starter. But it is at least an intriguing trade possibility. At least to me.

Chicago and Portland has got to be the teams.

    Something like this:

    Houston:
    Miller
    Outlaw
    Bayless
    Salmons

Portland: They need extra big bodies
    Thomas
    Andersen

    Chicago:
    McGrady

Or add Cook to Chicago and swap Salmons for Hinrich.
Hinrich can play some solid defense remember watching him hold Wade to a minimum and the same with Pierce.

    FA: Scola, Lowry, Outlaw, Miller

Would getting 4 people back put us over the limit of how many you can have on a roster?

How about Deng (10.3 mil), Salmons (6.4 mil) & Miller (12.2) for T-Mac (22.8 mil) & Battier (6.9 mil). Rockets would get more scoring out of the wing positions and a center that has played in Adelman's system. Miller has an expiring contract, but could be resigned to back up Yao next year. This would definitely put us in position to make a playoff run, but also give us players that would work well with Yao in the future.

Chicago gets out of Deng's 5 year contract and would free up money to make a FA signing next year. They get T-Mac's expiring contract, but also a player that has been endorsed by their own super trainer Tim Glover. If they believe what Glover has stated, T-Mac could become the a very productive player. Not much a risk because they get his expiring contract. Battier would be a great compliment type player for the Bulls and bring them a good defender. We may have to sweeten the deal with a Dorsey.

    Yao/Miller/Hayes
    Scola/Landry/Hayes
    Deng/Budinger
    Ariza/Salmons
    Brooks/Lowry

I would love to have deng in the deal. He's a really good mid range scorer and player off the ball. He's a good defender, but he's missed games in previous seasons. I don't know how they could get it done especially with wade eyeing the squad next year, but i would try big time.

I don't see Portland giving up Bayless, Pritchard never gave up any real asset before.

I wouldn't mind keeping Thomas though despite the logjam, he's only 23 years old meaning there is plenty of time for him to turn his career around.
