Sometimes you have to spend a little bit to save a lot. If we had signed him to a Joey Dorsey type deal as a rookie, we would have had him for the same 4 years for millions less and he also wouldn't be bitter from us screwing with him during two negotiations. Now when it's time to resign him we'll have to pay even more because he has no incentive at all to be loyal after how we treated him early in his career.

You have a very short memory. There was a time when the Rockets were lobbying very hard to bring in Mike James as a free agent, but he shut us down because of how we treated him before. It doesn't really matter that Mike James sucks now. The point is that the Rockets couldn't get a player they wanted at the time because of their history of mistreating players.

I don't think any top tier free agent is all that hot about playing on a team where the only other star has a 50/50 chance of going down for the season.

The OP is the most delusional poster I've ever seen. Good god. I mean, a lot of this garbage has been thrown around lately - but BONZI? Did the Rockets force him to eat all of those donuts? What?

How many free agents, GMs, players, etc. have you polled to come to these conclusions? The Rockets as a team is also known for a team that works their butts off night in and night out, play good defense, and have some good young talent. You don't think a free agent who wants to win a ring would be take those into consideration?

And you should get a life-ban for posting a picture of the Dream in that ugly uniform.

I agree with you 100%. Nothing gets on my nerves more than someone calling someone stupid, ignorant, etc. just because they don't agree with a comment. If you don't agree then state the reason you don't agree and leave it at that. Oh, and the one I really hate is the "fail" comment with nothing provided to back up why the comment is thought of as "fail". Include a reason for why it "failed" or don't commen at all.

Bonzi was special, he told JVG that he will play around the second half of the season due to his signing of a small contract.

Once the Rockets decline his option he becomes an unrestricted free agent. The Rockets can match any offer but he will be free to sign with any team he wants.

True. There were a lot of factors at play there and a lot of weaknesses on our team. It wasn't any one person.

    1. any smart free agent that wants to win a championship in the next years would think twice before signing with the rockets because of yao. the unfortunate reality is that yao hasn't won anything in the nba and he's seriously injured every season.

    2. who cares about the all star voting? which player's jersey is sold the most in china? it's definitely not mcgrady's. the only players that benefit from playing with yao are the ones that are out of the nba shortly after it. true nba superstars on the other hand are popular in china whether they play for the rockets or not.

and btw: the rockets aren't very attractive to superstar free agents (who tend to stay with their teams anyways...) right now. a typical superstar wants a) money b) a contending team c) his own team.

sadly, the rockets can't offer anything of that.

I know it hurts but we have to accept that this is who the Rockets are as an organization. That's why an Iggy deal might be best even though he's a bit overpaid. At least he's on a long contract so he can't leave no matter how much we mistreat him. Bosh or Amare are at a high risk of bolting if we trade for them.

How about before those crucial minutes, when Tracy settle with jumpers instead of driving in as a superstar should.

Blame Yao for not letting McGrady get the chance.
