does anyone know if we plan to resign them? if not, does anyone know what team these guys are talking to?
leehoang I count 6 new threads by you in 2 days, half of them being repeats of current threads already posted. Bad etiquette. Ease up man. Take a week and post only in other people's threads. You will make more friends around here that way; I promise.
you are right haey partner, i did the same thing. You rookies will learn though. Anyway i think we will not resing any of them. We are trying to get younger not older.
Isn't Glen Rice a veteran? Willis has a better chance of re-signing than the Wizard. But even that's a slim chance.
i like willis. he was averaging like 20/10/2 for a while a couple years back during the stretch when dream was out. and frankly i don't think any other free agent Center prospect out there can post all-star type numbers, unless you're willing to pay Kandiman the max. and who knows whether Kandi will produce in a non-contract year? it is just with yao and cato, i don't know whether houston would be the best situation for willis. that's all. wish we could have traded him to a contender last season...
Willis.... NEVER.... averaged 2 blocks! The guy has alligator arms and if I recall correctly, hasn't even had 1 season where he has averaged 1 bpg. The guy is a quality backup, but he cannot maintain himself under presure and lead a team. You ever see when he blew the Rockets chances in the playoffs a few years back? The guy bricked everything he took!
Willis was good a few seasons ago, but that was a few seasons ago. I think Willis is much less likely to sign with us than Williams because: 1) We were trying to trade Willis to a contender last year. He doesn't want to be part of a rebuild. 2) Willis isn't one of the boys like Williams is. 3) He plays a position that is pretty well-covered now with Cato, Yao, and for spots, Eddie Griffin. His neighboring position is stacked. Meanwhile, Williams position is also stacked but a little less secure with Rice, Nachbar, and Morris. If Rice goes down, there isn't a vet to fill in, besides Mobley in a small-ball set up. In truth, not a big deal either, but more potential there than at center. All that said, I don't think either will re-sign with us. Where they go, I don't know. I'd like to see Willis go to Sacramento as a third-string center.
I would love to see Willis win a championship next year. I don't think we'll resign him. Williams will probably ask for more than the MCE and will sign with another team. However, if he's still not signed by the time training camp starts up (which is very unlikely), I would think we'd have a good chance at signing him for the exception.
I think Willis end up backing up Shaq in LA, but there is still some possibility that he returns, perhaps to mentor Ming and continue helping Cato in his development. I think the Rockets would be wise to re-sign Walt to backup Mobley. He's probably better than most of the free agent shooting guards that are out there. If I had to pick though, I think Willis ends up in LA and Wizard ends up anywhere but Houston.
wiz has been replaced. once a team aquires a player that plays the same position as its FA, its certain that the FA has been replaced. welcome nachbar! as far as willis: we can still use him to mold ming. kev would be 3rd string center (1 reason why i dont think he wants to come back) if we move collier to pf and Tmo to sf. this wont happen because there just isnt room on this team for another front court player. if we move moT or kt then there is a chance of us resigning him, but it will have to be done this offseason before kev signs elsewhere. i say we bid them both farewell.
lee hoang:- Williams was a great 3 point shooter and even was a great 3 point scorer on rare occasions. His defence was the worst on the Rox! I hope he will be happy somewhere else!
