This Wizards trade that Morey was "working on" was the one that somehow, magically, mysteriously got leaked to the press. Did anyone honestly believe that Cuban wouldn't jump on it like a bum on a baloney sandwich?

When Morey talked to 610 about working on getting this team to a championship, was it hyperbole, false hope to give the fan base a pulse? I don't know if one year of Yao Glass Foot and Caron Hey-I'm-Thirty! was going to equal championship.

I hope this isn't some misguided B.S. to get Bosh. I'm really hoping that.

Are we actually shying away from Philly because we don't want to trade ANY of our guys? Or can Morey no longer stick to that now that it's apparent he has to give to get?

We still have New York, Chicago, and Philly in the mix. I say Philly is still in the mix no matter what Richard Justice says. He's just filling the holes with what he has, and what he has is his own belief that Tmac was never going to be moved. We'll see, I guess.

Part of me says this is just talk, part of me says this is going to happen. Tuesday/Wednesday couldn't come fast enough.

I bet the mavs flip the contract again next year for something better. I'd rather have mark cuban over DM. DM can make as many shrewd moves as possible, but you still have no chance when going up against teams like the lakers and mavs with their enormous payrolls..

We had it all perfect until Cuban screwed us. Trade McGrady for some talent and get him via free agency 2010.

    PG Brooks/Lowry
    SG McGrady/Ariza
    SF Caron Butler/Battier
    PF Scola/Landry
    C Yao/Haywood

    ;)

Don't forget to point out to these pinheads that it was CD who had us in all of those NBA lottos only to wind up with nothing to show for the effort. And let's not forget the Eddie Griffin, Mo Taylor, Noochie Norris signings. Or how about all of the good young players CD DIDN'T draft? I'm sure they enjoyed all of those years without a playoff appearance thanks the man with "balls". And lastly, it was CD who traded their starting PG, SG & PF to Orlando for MeMac and a handful of magic beans and we all know how well that worked out didn't we?

Well, all this means is it will be that much more enjoyable when Dallas gets beat in the playoffs to watch Cuban mope around like a sad puppy.

It would not appear there is much else to do.

The Mavs are absolutely desperate to jettison Eric Dampier aka "The Black Shawn Bradley" and his $10M salary. At least with Haywood they get a real center which is something they haven't had since James Donaldson.

In NO WAY, shape or form - in no aspect - in no segment - in no facet.....

....in NO random universe created by some quantum theory where everything that CAN happen, WILL happen is CD a better General Mgr. than Morey! Only Morey could get off the island, CD would remain....

    ...LOST.

Nice thinking about packaging Battier and Andersen to Cleveland (one of the few buyers out there who might pay up for Shane), although I'd like to get more than payroll relief and the last pick of the draft in exchange for Shane.

Two mistakes, though, in your off-season analysis:

    (1) I never, at any point, said that the salary cap would be $60 million. In fact, I said it could be as low as $50 million. I more likely scenario involves a cap of about $53-54 million.

    (2) If the Rockets decide to use their salary cap room, then they cannot exceed the luxury tax threshold. They cannot exceed the salary cap. That's the point of the "salary cap" in the first place. They can only get anywhere near the luxury tax (let alone exceed it) if they decide to re-sign Scola and Lowry, make trades to add salary, and/or use their MLE.
