Hard to believe the show has been on for only 6 years; seems much longer. But it's ending it's run tomorrow night. Just caught a commercial for the final episode. I haven't watched since it moved to TLC. Like most reality shows, I just started to grow bored of it. But I enjoyed watching it for a time. They made some pretty cool bikes, and it was fun to see the father and sons feud. Sad though that they let the feuding get the best of them. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35333410/ns/entertainment-reality_tv/
I stopped watching after maybe 2 or 3 seasons. I remember reading that the two best/nicest guys that worked there (one had a goatee and the other a mullet?) eventually quit because they were tired of dealing with them. I figured the drama must have crossed from funny to over the line and I wasn't missing much anyways. The appeal for me was the soup to nuts process anyways, not the bickering.
You're thinking of Vinnie (who started his own shop and Rick probably. I liked those dudes, too. They worked hard, knew when to play, but knew when to bust tail. I watched the show for the first time in probably a year or two and couldn't believe how much it had changed. I think Paul Sr just filed a lawsuit against Paul Jr and Mikey just got out of rehab - the show was falling apart with everybody leaving. It killed me when Paulie decided to hook up with that woman, give up on the shop, and start a boutique. WTH? I thought it was a joke or something when I first heard it.
Wow I didn't realize it was that bad. Yeah I loved Vinnie.. not surprised he started his own business. Paulie let celebrity get to him.. totally changed him (imho). I stopped watching a few years ago, but I was a dedicated fan for the first couple of years. I even have a OCC hat and t-shirt from their shop. My friend grew up about 20 minutes from where their original shop was.
WTF!?!? You got it, Vinnie and Rick. They seemed like the ideal employees for the most part. Good workers and mild mannered, in contrast to the Tuttles. I had NO idea about the rehab and boutique stuff. It sounds like a bad SNL sketch. Now I'm actually curious to see some older episodes now to see how all this came about.
All I remember is the old b*stard always saying something to the effect of "I told Paulie it was a bad idear." and then it would cut to a clip of the old guy yelling at either the chubby son or the obese one.
So is Mikey gay or what? On the shuttle episode when they were shooting off a rocket he called some random dude he was there with his partner. Seemed weird.
I used to watch the show all the time and like I said, one day I was watching TV and heard about Mikey going in for either drug rehab or alcoholism. It may have been alcoholism. Paulie's been dating some girl for a while now and he and she decided to start some boutique. He said in one episode he was going stop doing bikes fulltime to concentrate on his new business venture... the boutique. I about fell out of my chair. I was thinking this was part of a skit or something, too. lol. It really got bad in the one episode I watched a couple of weeks ago where Paul Sr. decided to return a bike to Paulie's house. He said he had kept telling him to take the bike out of the shop forever because it was just sitting there taking up space. Paulie never took it, so Sr. hauls it off on his truck, takes it to Paulie's house and leaves it on the road in front of his driveway. He refused to actually go up in the driveway or knock on the door. Paulie has a pretty sweet looking house from the outside, btw. It's really sad because I thought most of their fighting was just for show, but when you have sons and dads suing each other "in real life", you know something's jacked up.
