so it looks like most people with gmail accounts should be getting it real soon what do people think of it so far? i think its all right but limits really who can use it since its tied in with your google account. you use a mobile feature via your web browser which has a neat maps feature but hopefully they develop a standalone app for it. not sure if google will though atleast for the iphone. is it just me or was google wave just sort of died out?
i got it, but not sure i really want people following what i do that closely, or to spend a lot of time seeing what others are up to- maybe it's a generational thing?
I signed into my gmail today and twitter and gmail were in there making babies and I saw one of the babies and the baby looked at me.
its more like facebook in that you can update and people can comment/like your status as well as uploading pictures/link/youtube videos at least in the mobile feature its like twitter in that you view nearby "buzz" posts from everyone around (not just who are following) and it places them on a map using your location. its also like twitter in that you can follow someone but they dont need to necessarily need to follow you unlike in FB where you do need to friend someone to receive their updates. seems like a combination of the two...and there's no farmville on Buzz which immediately shot it up real high on my chart
I think, in general, new methods of Internet communication fail miserably. It's a pretty good bet when you say some new method will not succeed.
I think Buzz would have been unveiled a while back but they wanted to see if Wave was going to catch on first. I still think Wave can be useful for niche users -- planning events and having meetings for example.
btw, if you've enabled it, and later decide "Woah!" you can turn it off by clicking the "turn off buzz" link in the gmail footer.
If you find that the "buzz"es going into your Inbox are annoying like I did check this out: http://lifehacker.com/5468067/hideremove-google-buzz-updates-from-your-gmail-inbox
I love it so far, it freaking own in Google Maps on my droid, reading public buzzes around me are pretty hilarious It was confusing at first, I thought u had to add the contact in Latitude in order to view their buzzes, but I was wrong cause it runs seperate, Buzz was just intergrated into Google Maps with latitude So I see a few people here following me..... heh
Gina Trapani, expert on all-things-Google, with some good hints. How to do everything in Google Buzz (including turn it off)
I signed on gmail today and was like wtf?? is it today's pop culture that everything has to be turned into a social network thing? Is there a way for me to just reject this bullpoop and keep gmail as a simple email device?
