If the Rockets were able to swing the proposed Butler/Haywood trade, how does this scenerio sound?

Rockets trade: Shane Battier ($6.9mil/2years) and Luis Scola ($3.2mil/1year/restricted)

    Kings trade Kevin Martin (9.6mil/4years)

Rockets overview: The Rockets would be able to obtain a pure scorer in Kevin Martin. With injury concerns, the Rockets take the gamble, and try to add a shooting threat to a already low FG% team. With Ariza and Butler on the team, they figure they still have enough defense intensity to guard any wing in the league. The Rockets are looking at this deal as a possible Championship contender on paper, next season when Yao returns.

Kings overview: The Kings have said recently that they have interest in obtaining another starting post player, and specificaly mentioned Scola. In this deal the Kings would recieve Scola restricted status, and match any offer he might get in the off-season. Scola is already better than any forward the Kings have and gives them a upgrade in the post. Coming off of a NBA season where the Kings finished in last place, they are in a rebuilding mode. What better to surround your young players with, than Shane Battier and Luis Scolas veteren leadership. Battier gives the Kings a reliable workhorse, and a great chemistry guy as they re-tool the team and build around Tyreke Evans. In this deal, the Kings get out of the 3 1/2 years left on Kevin Martins contract.

    Rockets Roster

    PG - Brooks/Lowry
    SG - Martin/Ariza/Taylor
    SF - Butler/Budinger
    PF - Landry/Hayes/Dorsey
    C - Yao/Haywood/Andersen

Seems to me like point guard is the least of their priorities with Tyreke Evans holding down that spot solid for years to come. I doubt the Kings could ever pry AB away from the Rockets, with Martin alone, considering how many games he has missed the past 2 years. I think he has lowered his trade value, and you are underestimating Brooks trade value.

Not seeing any of your logic? Care to explain?

    Brian Cook for Derrick Rose.

Why Houston does it: They get a quick, creative, consistent starting PG.

Why Chicago does it: They get Brian Cook.

The only reason why they would trade martin is because Tyreke is a sg.thats what he played when martin was out.now that he's back they have been losing.
