Don't ask me why but out of all the possible trade scenarios, this is the one most likely to go down...
that's a good trade for mcgrady. we get a legit scorer and maybe start him at the 2 (though butler is more of a 3) and slide ariza into his more natural position. shane will come off the bench. haywood would provide the big body defensively (he's very good this year) and be a great backup to yao next year. knicks get the contract they want. and wiz is trying to rebuild.
This is not going to make us contenders but I still like it. Contracts of Butler and Haywood are fair and I think we can ride the Yao era with this team. Much better than the Iggy deal.
very very nice.....should change the title though to "rocket-knicks discuss" because otherwise it sounds like any other rumor where the knicks just say they may pursue tmac..
Actually, I read an article somewhere saying Haywood is very very underrated on defense. And I hope Caron can pick up his game and become an EFFICIENT 15-20 ppg guy. also. T-Mac would be loving this deal .
It sounds as if we might only be getting rid of Mcgrady. If thats the case I don't really see why you wouldn't pull the trigger.
i would love to have haywood as a backup. this trade rocks cause we're not giving up any of our assets. pretty much trading tmac aka bag of cheetos for gold! if this does indeed go down, morey has done it again.
can someone post the full article here? I know it is not correct/ethical but I don't have access to yahoo sports (freakin websense!). thanks in advance
haywood is very underrated defensively. i saw a raptors-wiz game and he literally blocked chris bosh's shot TWICE in the 4th quarter in his face with no help. i like this deal for haywood moreso than butler. and yes, tmac would love this deal.
As long as the players going to the Wizards aren't one of our core players, this is very good. But all is contingent on who the Wizards want and who we are willing to give up. That will make or break the deal.
i dont see why it couldnt. You got brooks coming on very strong as of late, the guy is truly a 20ppg scorer now. Landry is still improving and by next year should work out all his kinks. Ariza no longer would have to try so hard, therefore making him more efficient. Yao comes back with a lot more options around him. There's no reason why this team can't contend. I'm a bit worried about size at the PF spot, but butler rebounds very well and so can Ariza. Haywood as a back up gives us a rebounding big off the bench which we missed greatly since deke left.
and that's why it's not completed. the article states what else has to be done for the deal to have a chance of going through. this is the best deal being brought up by the media so far.
If we get both Butler and Haywood for Tracy alone it's not a bad deal really. We could evaluate Haywood and hopefully be able to sign Lowry and Scola in the offseason. The next year we could allow Yao/Butler/Battier to expire if the season does not go as planned allowing us to sign a Durant or Anthony if we got really lucky.
