Director of player personnel Dennis Lindsay is on 610 right now making some good comments. Said drafting a 2 guard was unlikely and is still on the show right now saying more things. mentioned darmarr johnson (spelling) and a few others. hasn't said anything real specific but sounds like they are not going to pick a guard and he hasn't said anything about any of the real big men.

Of course we aren't going to take a guard. Tell us something we don't already know!

He did mention the possibility that whoever they select in the draft might not be an immediate impact player and may be more of a player of the future. I think he was worried that if they selected a SF that Cuttino might have a problem losing minutes, so he might have been hedging a little for Cuttino's sake. Another possibility is that they are looking at younger players, like a Darius Miles or a freshmen.

He was asked about if Cuttino wanted start or would be happy coming off the bench. Dennis said that hasn't been brought up by anyone yet.

I didn't hear the whole thing, so please fill in the gaps.

Did he mention anything about any picks the Rockets could be receiving ie. Detroit pick?

rocket pimp...sorry i just posted to let you know he was on and that is all he had said i planned to post more later.

mmanal...that is something that interested me. he said orlando already sent the letter and it's past that deadline so no way they get orlandos pick.

HOWEVER DENNIS LINDSAY DID SAY THAT LATELY THERE HAS BEEN INFORMATION ABOUT THE ROCKETS POSSIBLY GETTING THE DETROIT PICK BUT AS OF LATE IT HAS COOLED OFF SOME. NOT SURE IF HE WAS REFERING TO THE MEDIA ACTING LIKE WE WOULD GET IT OR WHAT BUT HE SAID THAT GETTING THE DETROIT PICK POSSIBILITY HAD COOLED OFF SOME AS OF LATE. (NOT EXACTLY WHAT HE SAID I'M SURE BUT THE BASIC MEANING)

and as for the guard thing i think that could have been possible. we will maybe need someone in the future because i dont think that cuttino is going to stay on the bench for another 4 or 5 years. i could see cuttino signing this year but i'm not to sure that he would sign long term knowing that shandon would be the starting sg which i think shandon should be.

i heard quite a bit of the interview so trying to remember other things he said. he of course said that darius miles is a good player but he had a reallly good chance of going before the 9 pick. he did note that something could happen like when paul pierce dropped a few years back so you never know what could happen. he said paul almost went at the 2nd pick but that team passed on him and he ended up dropped a lot further. so if a team really interested in miles passes 3 or 4 more teams coudl pass so we could have a chance. he said that frm 15-30 range there are a lot of players that could go anywhere in that point so some people might be surprised with a pick at 15 or so that they thought would go closer to 30 because the talent is good but more equal in that range.

I actually would like a TALLER guard. Right now with Cat and Francis we are REAL small in the backcourt.

I know SA plays there too, and that is ok, but when we go to SA, Cat and Francis, it is a real small team.

We need to match up with Kobe Bryant type players...6'7" or more.

This extra guard thing is interesting. The ideal scenario would be to get Detroit's 14th overall pick so the Rockets would have the 9th and 14th picks. That way at 9, they could select Jerome Moiso and at 14 go with potential in DeShawn Stevenson. Stevenson's stock has been rising quick, and I have given long thought to him at 9, but alas the Rockets are just too thin up front to do that. However, picking Stevenson at 14 would be a major coup.

Just in case anyone has not heard what Stevenson can do... He has legit SG size at 6-6, is a very explosive player with a 43 inch vertical leap and strong finishing ability at the rim, he complements that with a smooth stroke from the perimeter and a solid well rounded game. Its possible since he is so young that he could grow another inch as Kobe has done since his HS days. A lot of teams appear to be drooling over this kid, the question is which one will take the risk on a high schooler. Right now, I have him tabbed to go 16th overall to Sacramento, can you imagine what a crazy backcourt he'd form with Jason Williams? Some people feel Orlando will snap him up with one of their picks which is possible also.
