Im looking for recommendations for Vietnamese food places in houston.

I work at I-10 and beltway 8 on the west side, so places near there would help for lunch...but i live in the city so any recommendations are appreciated.

I work in midtown and there are TONS of places around here.

I particularly like Thien An, but a little bit towards Montrose there is Hollywood Vietnamese as well.

I only know Korean restaurantes out where you work.

I thought Bodard Bistro got shut down? Haven't passed by to look lately, so not exactly sure.

Yeah, they owed taxes to the IRS. I heard they got shut down, but maybe it's open again.

Yeah, same name, same staff...Bodard on Bellaire in the strip mall with all the Chinese places east of Beltway 8, next to the Police station..

I love Nam Noung, and I can't think of other places in Houston that serve it (don't live it Htown anymore though). It used to be only an Orange County thing years ago.

There are a ton of places in Chinatown (Beltway/Bellaire Blvd.) I personally like Saigon Pagolac a lot, I think its one of the better vietnamese places in town.

Yes I love that there. Our family would order 100's of them for family get togethers. I was sad when that place closed, but am very glad to hear it's open.

Are there any Vietnamese food options for a vegetarian? I've never tried this type of food.

There's Cali Sandwiches, Les Givrals, and Van Loc in midtown. The food at Mai's isn't very good at all. Not sure of anything near I-10 and Beltway, but like others said you could just zip along down to Bellaire and Beltway 8, there's a lot of Chinese/Vietnamese restaurants. Sinh Sinh, Pho 24, Hong Kong Food Street, Fufu Cafe, Olympic Bistro...

There should be a vegetarian option at every Vietnamese restaurant. A lot of Vietnamese people are Buddhist and either eat vegetarian all the time, or for a few days in every month.

    I agree, I didn't like Mai's either. I also don't like Van Loc.

Cali is great, probably the best vietnamese food I've had... I just worry about the cleanliness of the place. Thien An (across the street) is almost as good, but a lot cleaner and safer looking. I work right next to Cali/Thien An, so I do frequent them. Cali if I want take-out, Thien An if I want to sit.

Hoang's has the BEST Bun Bo Hue.

It's in the shopping center on Scott and Elgin, right outside UH.

If you want a nicer place try Pagoda.
