Man this show was off the hinges yall. OK Go, an awesome Weezer-like band opened for em. They signed autographs, and I got the lead dude to take a picture with me. They were real nice, he made me give him my autograph too. Then the Vines...goooood Lod this was a fantastic show. INTENSE, EXTREMEEEE energy. I told some mosher to f off, this aint Korn or Slipknot, so stop jumping around like a 12 year old. He got sad and stopped dancing, so i had to apologize. They played all the songs from Highly Evolved, and even played a cover version of Outkast's Ms. Jackson. You couldn't understand a damn thing the Aussies said. When he introduced songs with a ciggie in the side of his mouth it sounded like "Ow gotta Newl sung fa yas. Fookin hewwwstawn!! Yah tew lud."
As I started reading your thread... My girlfriend read that they played at Stubbs tonight AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH--- I can't believe I missed them-- I guess you saw them there- man that show must have kicked arse inside!
Stubbs amphitheater/ indoors for smaller shows-- and BBQ (Austin) I'm assuming the Engine room is in Houston---- whoops they played here on Fri 26th-- I hate missing shows like this cause next time they come to town they will be playing a big venue instead of a club.
Hey, I saw these guys last night in Dallas at Trees. Not as riff-oriented as I was hoping for. A little more like Black Rebel Motorcycle Club without being so Jesus-and-Mary-Chain-y. Decent enough show, but they didn't rock my face off like the Strokes or ...Trail of Dead did a while back. The singer from OK Go was wearing an Astros T-shirt last night and I told him that the Astros rock when I saw him on the way out. Did he wear it when they played in Houston?
Hell no he didn't wear it. He wore an ugly yellow shirt that had three "men's bathroom" men on it, with an arrow pointing up. It said "Homeward Up". I don't know why he didnt rock the Astros shirt.
It was funny because between songs he asked if it was appropriate to wear an Astros shirt in Dallas. All he got was some guys shouting he should be wearing Stars gear.
I live in Houston but am stuck in Dal for a while and saw the show at the Trees. I think OK Go impressed me more than the vines, the "this is not the sound of the train" or whatever was neato. Vines were good, I dont know the lead singers name but he is a character on stage. Did he trash the drum set in the other cities? The Dallas crowd is pretty quiet, it was weird. Better than moshing though. Better than holding hands and singing too, I can just see that happening when DBC opens for Weez. Ahck.
