I don't understand why, after the Colts completely stole the momentum back with the Goal Line stand, they decide to go with three straight run plays. They had a 3rd and 1 with like 50 secs left and went for like a sneak play with Donald Brown and he gets stuffed and they punt it back to NO and give them 3 points.

It baffled me, I've seen this Colts offense go 80 yards in less then a minute, the least they could've done was run the clock out.

jim caldwell just made poor coaching decisions tonight.

Jim Caldwell played it conservative right up until he decided to trot out an ancient Matt Stover to attempt a 51 yard FG in an outdoor statium.

You gotta pooch that one bro, at least give you defense a chance, Don't give Brees a shortfield.

Payton really outcoached Caldwell big time from top to bottom.

My favorite moment was obviously the Manning choke, but this game solidified Sean Payton as a legend. The onside kick, and moreso the fourth and goal from the 2 - that's the kind of outside the box thinking you HAVE to employ against Peyton Manning. Yes, typically you take the points. But the thing is, go back to Belichick's fourth-and-2 gamble - you know if you give Peyton Manning the ball in decent field position (25 or 30 off a kickoff) with two timeouts and two minutes, he's going to get three points at a minimum and possibly seven.

Payton went for the touchdown, because even if he didn't make it, he knew having the Colts backed up at their own 1 would almost certainly keep them from scoring, and give the Saints a small chance at getting the ball back (which did happen). Going for that fourth down, even though it failed, set the tone - it went against every football "logic" play in the book, but it's simply the way you have to think against Peyton Manning. It worked, and I hope it sets a trend for the usually overly conservative NFL in the future.

this was good aside from Colts -5. Wish I hadn't added that on Friday (the other 3 were made a week ago). Either way, I ended up positive...could have been wayyy better though

Saints gift-wrapped this game for the Colts.

    Colts failed to capitalize.

His legacy, if folks want to be real about it and get out his nutsack, is a great QB that puts up great numbers but when it really matters......um, let me drop the ball. He has been doing that in the playoffs for his entire career. He did it for the majority of the games where they won the SB, even though they "gave" him the MVP. He did it tonight....any other QB throws that pick 6 and they are getting killed. Props to Deion and Irvin for keeping it real on the postgame....

Peyton reminds me of Warren Moon. Moon choked every time the game was on the line.

It is funny watching Moon in the Directtv sandbox touch football challenge. He takes the game so serious, like he is trying to prove something.

Of course this is after he came into the nfl, he was a beast in the cfl.

Sure did. Both decisions were made by the same guiding principle - if you give Peyton Manning the ball on his own 25-30, with two timeouts and two minutes, you most likely aren't going to be able to stop him.

What a great game. Anyone looking just at the score who didn't see the game would imagine that it was the Saints in a blowout, hardly the case at all. Brees was amazing. 32-39-0? You have to be kidding me! The Saints secondary, receivers, and special teams were all outstanding. My Cajun brother-in-law is going crazy!

That's only true if you define games that "really matter" as games the Colts lose. Did Manning suck against the Jets and Ravens? Did those games not matter?

lol. and what happens when you give it to him on your own 30? they have nothing to do with each other. in fact, they are completely opposite ends of the spectrum, which is why one is a dumb decision that lead to a loss and the other helped get a Super Bowl win. Payton knew that making Manning work more for his TD could create good things.

whatever though, the fact that you are still trying to justify so many months later means you will never move on this, which I accept.

I just thought it was funny you would try and use tonight to take another shot at it. :D

Change the 3 to a 1 and you have the actual score.

Glad for the Saints, they have been in the football basement for soooo long. Good for them, good for the city. I disagree that Manning choked. Actually he had a over 300 yards passing, and even after the interception I thought he might score and try the onside kick and score again to tie. He is a great QB, but Breese was better tonight.

Congrats to the Saints, they'd really played like they wanted it. Speaking of winning, I just won the Superbowl against the Saints on Madden with the Texans on my franchise mode... Hmm.. maybe the Texans can win it next season in Dallas.
