Its got to be something with Lowry's free throw attempts or drawing fouls that does it. Or keeping the AST/TO ratio adequate. Or his good rebounding for his position. Or perhaps his defense is underrated. Alright Lowry's got some things going for him.... But I see the same lack of ability to put the ball through the rim in Lowry like I do with everyone else. If Landry or Scola instead of their efficient selves were just, lets say, Drew Gooden-like from the field, this team would probably be dead ass last in team FG %. And Lowry compounding that problem. So does Lowry make others better? I suppose thats what we're arguing here... he's better than Brooks as the true point guard facilitator. Its making it out like we got Jason Kidd playmaking sitting on the bench. Maybe thats the apt comparison, poor man Jason Kidd. Still, Brooks is not THE problem is what we keep forgetting. Maybe Landry should start over Scola. Maybe Lowry over Brooks. Its 3/4 of the league should start over Ariza, Battier or Hayes.
We don't need to bench Brooks. We just need to realize what he really is and that is a SG in a PGs body. We need to get a SG in a PGs body which could be either Lowry or maybe even Llull
You had that in T-mac, would have like to see them play together where as he wouldn't have to worry about passing to alston anymore.
do you even watch rocket's games? Brooks has great body control... i understand that you really like lowry but we wouldnt have won half these games without brooks... ur thread sucks
The fault i see in this entire argument is comparison of the two and position classification. If the op want to call lowry a true pg and that makes him better, ok, but to brooks doesnt make his teammates better, i have a problem. The mere fact every scouting report starts with containing brooks is vindication. Brooks poses a greater threat to opposing teams than lowry and its not even close. You dont see teams trapping nor tilting to lowry. I like both, but playing with 2 wings who cant break guys down of a scamble and hayes/dorsey types really make your job difficult. Lowry would probably fit better if the team had play finishers, but they dont.
Agreed!! Lowry is like Rondo, give him the minutes and he will produce. Brooks is a 2guard in a PG body. With his size he has strengths as well as weaknesses. He is like a poor-mans Iverson.
Wow didn't you guys see last night's game? I think it's pretty clear who is the starter. Plus, they share equal minutes so i don't know what the problem. Battier+Ariza+Hayes=Cannot Score a basket Brooks=Scoring threat I doubt Lowry-Battier-Ariza-Hayes would work imo..
IF Lowry Stars over Brooks, Houston will be playing offense 1 on 5 every time. What they have to do is either start Dorsey or Chase or even Kyle along Brooks and end the Battier/Ariza Combo because is just awful to see Brooks and Scola having to score 2 on 5 every single time they start the game. RA need to break this starting team. There is a reason why you need a SG on the team. Playing two small forward that can create or even dribble won't cut it.
Brooks is starting to frustrate me. In a last 2 mins. of a close game, he will never pass the damn ball, he'll either shoot it himself or drive it to the hole, and half the time he'll get a no call miss the shoot and the other team gets the rebound. Someone needs to tell him he has team mates. Watching him and playing with C Bud is like watching Steve Francis playing with Nachbar all over again. The dudes don't give them the ball that match.
He does need to get better at passing particularly when he has good shooters on the floor with him. However, I think this is a growth year, and they are letting him learn on the fly. He is the best player on the team..at least on offense....so...gotta take the good with the bad. DD
We are Golden State right now, two high volume jackers in the back court, soft team that plays no defense and is undersized.
We wouldn't be as soft, we would play better defense, we would have one less jacker in the backcourt, and we'd have better sets run at the end of games.
Wrong....we would have worse shooters on the floor at the end of games, Lowry is great on the break, those go away at the end of games. Lowry would help a lot though, because Brooks is playing far too many minutes. DD
Usually at the end of the game, the ability to get to the line and play defense is more important than shooting, unless it's you need to score with very little time left on the shot clock.
Sorry, he can't be worse than brooks at the end of games, can you find a SINGLE instance of brooks making a shot where the rockets are tied or behind in the last plays of a game? I mean I can remember plenty of ariza shots just off the top of my head, and he is supposed to be a much worse shooter than brooks.
Well there are two examples (Brooks around Shaq and against Philly) but overall Brooks seems to hurt us late in games rather than to help us win. I would rather Kmart get some more touches in this latest OT.
