All I have to say is that I'm scared now... just think of that nasty lineup. They'd have a big hitter at every position: Vina, Renteria (whose still like only 25 or something), Rolen, Pujols, Drew, Edmonds (a.k.a Jim the astro killer), Tino, with Matheny (C) as their only weak spot in the order. I'm sorry but that is a rediculous and BALANCED lineup. They have average, power, speed, defense, lefties, basically everything. Oswalt and Miller are money, but I would hate to be competing for the division title with that sick squad. Well, let's hope Drayton and Gerry are going to be able to get us close to that talent level.
Sorry, but the Astros won't trade for talent, its not justified. 6 games out of 1st in a weak division does not justify making a run. I think are going to wallow in mediocrity until we break apart this team and have a true rebuilding year. By break apart of course I mean when Bagwell/Biggio retire, hehe. Which is saying...we as Astros fans, have some waiting to do.
Well, Montreal traded to make a run, and they were 10-11 games out of 1st in (arguably) an even weaker division when you don't include the Braves. 6 games can easily be made up over a month, month and a half...so how can it not be justified to make a run at it? In a weaker division, it makes sense to try to rise above those lesser teams and go for it all, because it's a lot easier than, say, in the NL West.
6 games can easily be made up. This shouldnt even be a question. We also have 4 games against the Cards, which could help us if we take off our panties and step it up against them.
We are also 5.5 games behind the Dodgers for the Wild Card spot. We have 6 games remaining against L.A. We could do some serious damage if we play well.
Though the 'Stros won't do it I'd love to see them get Rolen. Forget about his bat for a minute his defense is just insane. Barely anything gets by him and he has a cannon for an arm. These fans up here just look for anyone to blame. The 100+ million dollar contract was never offered. It was just leaked out after Rolen said he would probably try out free agency so the fans would get pissed at Scott and not the front office. They boo hometown boy Kobe, they boo Rolen hell they booed Destiny's Child. They're not fickle like Houston fans they're equal opportunity jerks.
