I think Luis is on the way out. I like him despite his limitations, but DM should not throw him away in a trade. At the same time,I realize that his value is that of a good role player.
At this point it makes more sense to trade Scola. Next year you start Landry and draft a decent PF since this draft will be full of guys with potential. If they pan out great, if not you still have Hayes to hold down the position. Scola isn't getting any younger and it seems as if other teams covet him from the trade rumors.
How is this thread still going. Please lock this garbage. We are finally stacked at PF and people are discussing trades? Wake up folks. We have a glaring hole at the 2 while the 4 is rock solid. As for all the nonsense about Scola getting older and slower, who cares? Have you ever seen him dunk? His jumping ability is already next to nothing. That spin move requires a different kind of athleticism, one he will likely sustain throughout his career. He runs the floor, which is basic cardio and he hustles. Getting older will not do much to that. Scola and Landry should retire Rockets. You Amare-jockers are nuts and the people looking to draft a PF when we are already established there are just stupid. The end? Please say yes.
We have two pretty good forwards, and that might be a bit of an understatement...you decide. Scola and Landry, I think one of them does need to be traded if it means getting a star piece. I love them both, but one probably needs to go.
Hows about we keep Scola and Landry, Brooks and Lowry, Ariza and Budinger, and trade Mac,battier, taylor, dorsey for Igoudala and Dalembert. We may even be able to hustle away a 2nd round pick. Then use our draft picks to get depth. Brooks/Lowry Igoudala/Budinger Ariza/draft pick Scola/Landry/Hayes Ming/Dalembert/Anderson./Greg Monroe No real chemistry is lost and we can go after a SF like Austin Freeman out of Georgetown or whoever you guys think.
Agree with ya. I'll try not to simply paraphrase you, but to me they both fit the mold of exactly who Adelman wants to have in there - though AB is the leading scorer on the team, Luis and Carl each are more the key to the system "right now" without Yao - but trading one of them in a package for a more dominant leader could help the team keep leads, stop going so cold, etc. The Rockets are an amazing team effort to watch and root for right now, but I support whatever it takes to make them just better, too. Rick has the coaching tools to help any group play to the best of their potential. Give him a little bit better group?? and let's break out more noisemakers!!
Dickie V doesn't count though. He never thinks anybody who didn't play college ball should go over somebody who did. He thought Yao Ming was a terrible pick over Jay Williams. He criticizes everybody who took high school players over college players. Dickie V is a joke. I know I'm taking this too far - but I can't wait for that idiot to die so I don't have to listen to him anymore.
Between now and the NCAA tournament's end, anything can happen. Dwayne Wade was not a consensus top 5 pick before the tourney but sure as hell turned out to be (which is why the darko pick, coupled with Carmelo's tourney run, made it a dumb pick at the time). There are guys flying under the radar everywhere who could turn into lottery picks, such as Arnett Moultrie, Jerome Jordan, Hassan Whiteside, andCharles Garcia. I don't think it's a ridiculous notion to give up a PF in a trade to acquire a center, but to give one up at this point in time to draft a young PF is insane. Every single PF prospect in this years draft could turn out to be duds come March.
Yeah it sounds bad now, but no one wants to be the sad sap who passed on the best player available, such as Melo or Chris Paul, and settled for another player who was not quite as good because they were happy with their current line up at that position. Those probably aren't the best examples, but you know what I mean.
It sounds like you're assuming a player we could get in the draft would wind up being as good (and as good a fit) as either Scola or Landry. I don't think that's a safe assumption.
Scola and Landy may play the same position, but they play different but important roles on the team. It's not like one of them is sitting on the bench gathering moss. If you trade one, you lose something vital. You lose a lot. So what you get back had better make up for it and then some. The Rockets are set at PF. They should keep both, unless in the trade they get back a PF who is head and shoulders better than either of them. And that doesn't address our weaknesses elsewhere. I could see trading Scola for salary reasons if the team brought in some high-priced talent and couldn't afford to pay Scola when the time comes. But I hope it doesn't come to that because, regardless of what the Scola-is-slow, old-and-can't-jump people say, the results say something else. His production and the way he fits this team have been essential to any success they've had the last couple of years. I'd say no player has contributed more to the team's success in that time. He's one of the best rebounders in the league on a per-minute basis and he plays in a way that actually helps the team win, not just pad his stats like so many other allegedly good players. Lose this guy and I think people might be surprised at the impact. I say focus on the positions of need and upgrade in places where the difference between what you're getting and what you're giving up is wide.
i'm still waiting for Budinger to turn it on or turn it up before i think about trading for Camby. just like Scolandry, Camby can be just as important. He is somebody to look at next year, somehow, some way, i see him more important then Ariza and would be willing to move Ariza,Andersen, Taylor for him. Then if possible sign him. despite Ariza's defense and length, i think Wafer was the fire power we needed as Camby with his size and length can defend and cover more space then Ariza.
Very Nice!, I was aware of Whiteside and Jordan, but I wasn't aware of Garcia & Moultrie, both would be great prospects for the Rockets.... --RB
What a great idea! Let's tank the season less than 15 games into it for an inknown commodity! Not smart.
Man, i know its old news and dead ass horse, but eddie griffin was the best potential pf next to yao. Its really sad he had demons that he coulnt overcome, but for what he couldve been was perfect. Even if he was 70% of what the thought, we were still looking at almost a double-double with close to 2 blks. I'm not going to say rudy t ruined him, but i never liked the idea as a rookie shoooting 3's. I always like the idea of developing nside and moving out vs the other way around.
