On Jon's blog about the game tonight, he metions a few trades, and said Washington isn't interested in Scola, they want Brooks, Landry or Chase. I guess they want young talent. Maybe they'll take Taylor back instead? Who knows what kind of deal Morey can strike.
Factor in new CBA rules where players will be taking a large pay-cut. In the end players won't be able to do anything they'll go on strike, but not for long. They won't find a job that pays better i guarantee it. It's happened before in the 96 or 99 season i forget, where new rules were applied and players retaliated by going on strike during that lock-out where it's believed it's a players league. It's a players league alright only when money counts. Many owners are going on strike, then players will soon follow, but in the end owners will win and players will have lower salaries. I agree with the owners, they fork out millions for some players who are suppose to lead their teams into the playoffs and fail year in and year out, but most importantly the amount of millions they fork out, they end up losing more when fans don't show up. A player making 18 million a year will only be making 10-11 million. There will be like a % of reduction of salary based on the % of pay scale, the higher you earn, the less you make. Kind of like a tax-fee where players will need to play harder just to keep the doors open where they are playing. That is what will happen after next season as owners will go on strike, then players will follow, but they'll be forced to accept the new rules applied. Sometimes i wonder if it's an attempt by Stern to level out competetion between the NBA and Euro league. Using the weak economy as leverage to justify the actions. That is an advantage to a commisioner and owners, but a disadvantage for the league as more players will leave to Europe finding better deals. Within the next couple years you'll start seeing teams that normally dominate the past fall to the bottom as smaller markets will increase and rise while larger markets will slowly decline and fall, making the size and population less irrelevant for the sport, team and marketing. Teams who survive through legends won't matter with the future and direction it will be headed. Players get wise through the years and realize that they were so young and dumb, that playing in the NBA is all deception. It will be more of a owners league with more restrictions and expansion that is for sure. One league may not be so dominate and there will be better players leaving is what will be at risk. Some players will act though as if they can't live off 10-11 million a year.
Iggy and Butler are both mediocre which is why both of their teams are in lottery. I was hoping Morey would atleast net us an elite player in return which is what we'll need if were talking about setting ourselves up as a championship caliber team and not just a playoff team.
Part of what Caron Butler a better fit is his contract. Iggy is paid like a top20 player, and he clearly isn't. I say give Butler a shot, and get some of the young bigs from the Wizards too. Send off Tmac+Scola+Chase for Butler+Haywood+Javale Mcghee/Nick Young.

This move did not work was a failed scenario money don't work. Brooks, Landry, Budinger wont even net you a top 5 talent, talent wise in today's league and that is how high markets are for those top 5 players and their teams. Then factor in salary you have to move them with expiring contracts just to have a chance to talk with other teams.
I've never seen Nick Young play but from watching this you tube video he reminds me alot of Von Wafer. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/MBqbfMvIGIg&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x234900&color2=0x4e9e00"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/MBqbfMvIGIg&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x234900&color2=0x4e9e00" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Nick Young is a player I would like to see what a change of scenario would do for him. He has a complete offensive skillset and is super athletic.
Young is definitely the SG that we can develop...has youth, athleticism and scorer's mentality...i want him included for that Butler-Haywood package especially if we're sending them a rotational player.
Players like Paul, Williams, Rose are point guards who are the best players on their teams will never win anything that is gauranteed! They are over marketed and over valued and don't need proof by judging history alone that is more then enough proof, point guards being the best players on their teams never win in the promise land. Realistically you could do Brooks, Landry, Budinger +fillers for Paul+fillers and call it pretty even trade. He's be the only top 5 player you can land, but anybody else above him is impossible even during next decade using the same players today.
You can call Memphis up where i'm at now and try a tweak bilateral upgrade salary wise from position and trade for Gay or Mayo using Brooks, Landry, Budinger and you might have a chance.
the only guy I want on the wizards is nick young. question is how can we pry him away from the wizards? I know they are having a firesale but yet I cannot find an asset that we have currently that sounds like a viable trade
I'm not liking what I'm hearing here now. If the trade is supposed to be T-Mac + filler for Butler, and Haywood is one thing, but wanting us to throw in someone like Scola is ridiculous. It wouldn't be so bad if Haywood had another year on his contract, but as it stands now he's nothing but an expiring, because I assume he'll be able to get a 4-5 year deal at around his 7mil per salary this offseason, or at least the mid-level. Since Les won't pay that length of a contract for a backup he'll just be a rental, and be gone when Yao comes back next year. You've gotta think this way, because we're not winning the title this year(or at least 1 in a million chance). So we would be in essence trading our giant get-out-jail-free card(T-Mac) for Butler PLUS giving them a player that is almost as good(Luis). If you go by the stats this year a better player because Caron's numbers are horrible. That's a pretty crappy trade if you ask me. It almost comes out to a mini salary dump for Les. I want Javale McGee in any trade with the Wizards. I think they need us more than we need them. And for the record I think Butler's overrated.
This trade is successful in the trade machine. Miller and Haywood have 1 year left on their contracts and Butler has 2 years left. This one would make more sense then the Sixers deal. I just hope something gets done.
This will be a HUGE upgrade! Wow.. T-Mac for Butler & Haywood is a must! With this trade we are adding two STRONG pieces into our team. Just imagine an opposing player such as LeBron, Kobe, & Anthony having to go into Houston and face the likes of Ariza, Battier & Butler on defense. - All are hard-nosed players that will put up a fight. Haywood in the middle would change the dynamics so much that players would have to reconsider about going in the paint twice. - A blend of Haywood's toughest will definitely improve the Rockets overall defense. Overall, with Butler (2 years left) and Haywood (1 year left), their contracts is such a short-term appeal to Daryl Morey that we can have room to make changes or re-sign players after 2011. This deal makes TONS of sense and plus the players we're getting in return are a perfect tandum for the Rockets. GO ROCKETS!
