Of course the ball is gonna go to brooks. The ball has to start in his hands, especially with that line up we had out there. Talk about a lack of ball handlers, who else was the ball supposed to start with; Battier or Ariza (Ha!). He is our best option of getting the ball to the rack and ended up with a damn good shot, like a previous poster said 9 times out of 10 that is going in, in this cause it was just an unfortunate roll. On another note, we really could've used another ball handler on the floor. We really missed Kyle in that situation. I was hoping RA would try to put someone out there, but then I realized he really didn't have any other option.
what pissed me off more than anything was this Stat fouled out and Landry didn't receive a pass at any time during the next SEVERAL offensive possessions Landry should have been facing up Lopez, Dudley, and the rest of that joke of a frontline minus stat every trip down in OT. surprise surprise I'm pretty sure Trevor took 2 awful 3's during that critical sequence
While I disagree with the OP, does anyone else notice how bad AB is when shooting free throws near the end of games? It seems like AB will _always_ go 1/2 on FT's whether we are ahead or trying to add a cushion.
This is why I think it's better to have a wing as your closer, most pg's can't play above the rim, because of that it will be harder to finish in traffic or with contact when refs swallow their whistle in the clutch.
I hope nobody is complaining about the missed driving layup. It was well designed and executed -- we just didn't get the friendly bounce it. It happens. It was precisely the look we wanted and I would have no problem going back redoing it. A Brooks/Landry or Scola PnR is our undeniably our best offense in crunchtime situations. Besides, it generally keeps the ball out of Ariza's hands which is always a good thing.
The play was executed perfectly. Brooks got the layup that he usually makes. He just chocked on this one.
He is doing what he should do, the problem is that he doesn't have anyone around him to pass it too...... DD
Brooks is the only viable option IMO, other then Landry He got the best shot, and the highest percentage shot. How many people would rather have a long jumper then a point blank layup?
Tha's BS. AB doesn't have the ability to find right people at the right time, just like Ariza doesn't have the ability to shoot. AB's decision making an court vision has always been sub-par among PGs. Tmac could find they right guy way better than AB, Lowry could find the right guy way better than AB.
Because we had both Tmac and Lowry were available last night.... AB was the only person on our roster that could dribble penetrate to shoot or pass, and if you think there's a better option out there please enlighten me. I'm sure AB practiced the intentional free throw miss, but i doubt he ever thought about the lane violation in his practices. What a painful way to lose the game.
You didn't read my previous posts. I agree AB was the best option available and he should have the ball in his hands, but I don't buy that " he has nobody to pass to“ thing, that's just a terrible excuse for point guards.
If I recall the replay correctly, Brooks had a wide open lane for a layup coming off a PNR at the top of the key. 98 out of 100 times he makes it. Except last night, he just blew it, plain and simple. You can't get a much easier shot than that. Brook is more of a Tony Parker than a Steve Nash, but he'll still pass the ball out if he sees a wide open guy. Even in the last game, he drove in the paint, drew double team, bounce passed to Scola who's 3 ft away on the right side of the rim, and gave him an easy layup. Sure, if his final shot was challenged and/or he was double teamed, I can understand your point of view and question AB's judgment. But why would you pass the ball when you're a scorer of Brook's caliber with a wide open layup?
