Rip Torn has taken his drunken antics to the bank. Talk about your armed and loaded.

The actor was busted Friday night (Jan. 29) for breaking into a Connecticut bank, armed with a loaded gun, reports the Litchfield County's Register Citizen.

Apparently, the "Dodgeball" star was ripped, that is, he was "highly intoxicated," according to a police news release.

Elmore Rual "Rip" Torn, 78, forced his way into the Litchfield Bancorp building, setting off an alarm. He got taken into custody and is being held on $100,000 cash bond.

He was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, carrying a firearm while intoxicated, first-degree burglary, first-degree criminal trespass and third-degree criminal mischief.

He's due in court on Monday, Feb. 1.

Torn has a history with getting arrested for drunken behavior, particularly drunk driving. He was acquitted in a 2004 case, and got probation for a 2007 and a 2008 case, in which he swore at police officer and insisted he was a cop as well, displaying his New York auxiliary police officer ID.

By the looks of that picture, I'm not sure sure he isn't.

My 2 favorite Rip Torn roles are Artie from the Larry Sanders Show and Q from Wonder Boys.

Kind of poetic that he was frequently getting drunk in both roles.

I might have to go watch the Artie after Hours episode of Larry Sanders, where he goes on a late-night bender after a run-in with Larry. Not quite as impressive as his bank meltdown though.

He was great in Larry Sanders. I may be the only person on earth that loves the movie "Summer Rental". He cracks me up as the owner of the Barnacle that teaches John Candy to sail.

Necessary? It's not necessary that I drink my own urine, but it's sterile and I like how it tastes.

If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a burglary conviction.

    Update....

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/02/01/rip-torn-to-rehab-thought_n_445033.html

LITCHFIELD, Conn. — Rip Torn was so intoxicated when he broke into a Connecticut bank carrying a loaded gun that he thought he was home, taking off his hat and boots and leaving them by the door, according to court records.

The 78-year-old actor was wearing the same battered boots Monday when he was arraigned on several charges after spending the weekend in a police holding cell near his hometown of Salisbury, in northwestern Connecticut.

Torn, who did not enter a plea, was released on $100,000 bond a few hours later and waded through a phalanx of media to a friend's waiting vehicle. He smiled and wished onlookers a nice day but did not answer questions about the arrest.

He is expected to enter an alcohol rehabilitation center in New York as early as Tuesday, according to his attorney.

Torn was given probation last year in a Connecticut drunken driving case and allowed to enter an alcohol education program. He completed the first stage of that program.

He also has two previous drunken driving arrests in New York.

"The history here is clear that there's an alcohol issue that needs to be addressed," his attorney, A. Thomas Waterfall, told Bantam Superior Court Judge John W. Pickard on Monday.

The "Men in Black" actor is accused of breaking into the Litchfield Bancorp branch through a window Friday night in Salisbury, where officers responding to an alarm found him wandering in the lobby and nearly incoherent.
