The game looks amazing. I am more exited for this game than for the next grand theft auto game. One of the many cool things that I heard about this game is the ability to shoot guns out of enemy hands.
We do all the character rigging, filming. voice capturing and facial animation. I promise you this is only the tip of the iceberg, the game is flat out amazingly good. IIRC, there are like 500+ minutes of facial animation in it....just tons of storytelling. RockStar is killing themselves to make it, so much so, that their wives are complaining about it in their San Diego studio. Either way, it is gonna be great...hopefully people will embrace it.... DD
Red Dead Revolver was the best western game to date imo. I cannot wait for this one. Seems like a lot of sequels are coming out early this year
So DD do you know if the open whole 'open world' concept means that you can go on forever into the desert? or will you stop when you go too far and end up spawning in a town type of deal.
I really do not have that much clarity on that end, we are working on the canned scenes etc. But from their history etc, I would guess it is much like GTA, where you have areas of interest to roam around in, with hidden stuff...sort of an outdoor city/Oblivian style of deal. But, that is really just a guess on my part. What I was referencing was the game play, it looks really fun...... DD
That is what I am worried about. GTA IV was a game that came nowhere close to living up to expectations. I just hope this doesn't turn out the same way.
Nearly every western game is open world style, I imagine this would be similar to those or any GTA game
My uncle is on the team that is making it and hes been working around 12 hours a day + some Saturdays for some time, seems like well over a year.
It is a huge deal on the gamers blogs, and honestly it brought down EA's production a few years ago. Making games is not all that fun, in fact it is fricken long long hours and no life at times. I had to crunch one time for over a year.....to get two products down, and my oldest son was in his first year of his life, it was tough on my family particularly my wife. I will not ever do that again, work to live, don't live to work. The industry chews people up and spits them out the other end, burned out, pissed off, and with no compensation for their long hours of efforts other than a box on the shelf at the local best buy. Most of the people that are doing it, do it for passion, because they love games, but man, it can suck the life right out of you if you let it. You have to get to senior management to make any real $$$$ and the only way to make big money is to start your own gig and sell it. The industry is a lot tougher than a lot of folks think. DD
I think maybe because it is a video compression for the internet, they look really nice on a dev kit...or XBox 360 etc. Thanks but I would never take credit, this is Roxstarz game all the way...we are just helping them bring their vision to the market.. DD
You know to take it a little further, this is a really big risk for them, western types of games have not sold all that well. Mostly games mirror the movie industry as marketing execs put their finger in the air chasing the latest trends to try to greenlight games. It is why we get so few new types of games, or really different content. I truly hope that we can get to a point where digital distribution is open to developers and people can interact and purchase directly from them. That would open up the world of gaming to all kinds of neat cool experiences.....but as long as 3 or 4 publishers have a choke hold on the market, we will continue to get XXXX game 3, or XXXX game 4.....and so on and so on... So, I hope people like and support this game, because the industry needs new and innovative stuff....imo. DD
