We know what we are dealing with, so probably too much, then we are willing to spend.

I like McGrady and unlike many, I loved him as a Rocket (on the court), but I'd rather see McGrady's usual money go to securing one of the other Rockets FAs we have that are up for new contracts like Scola and Lowry.

What part of that is actually basketball? Francis was useless in every way shape or form when he got resigned anyway. There is no precedent for Tracy Mcgrady.

personally for the minimum i would do it but he would never be asking for that

tmac ruined his career when he decided to work with grover this summer.he gained a bunch of muscle which has slowed him down. he still has his skills but everything is in slow motion. he is only 30, still young, i workout and cardio and 33 and havent noticed a thing slower but my body is still like it was at 21, i dont know why these players eat so much and lift heavy weights to the point of getting to big.

look at tmacs 24 yr old frame at orlando to now, now he is much fuller and heavier, lost his athletism. Kobe meanwhile is the same size at age 30 as 23. Kobe learned to stay thin lightweight, keep his speed, while everyone else (francis, tmac, odom, marbury) all got bigger.

I hope you're kidding. Muscle isn't going to slow you down when you dont gain signficant bulk. If anything it's going to make you faster because of the new muscle strength. Tmac didn't gain considerable bulk, so it wouldnt slow him down.

And did you have knee surgery? You have scoliosis? Back problems? Something tells me that affected his decrease in speed a lot more than "lifting".

id sign tmac for vet minimum....

im so glad the league is cutting down on players' salary. the era of players getting ridiculous contracts is hopefully coming to an end or at least toned down to where it's not longer as preposterous as rashard's 120mil contract

Putting feelings aside, I think t-mac would be great free agent signing, if he would come for the right price b/t 6-9 million sounds reasonable to me....

The organization is paying him to stay away. They obviously don't want him around. Why would they bring him back once they are free and clear of him?

It's definitely the added muscle and not age, a back made of glass and a major knee surgery slowing him down.

Lebron James seems pretty fast and athletic.

I absolutely endorse resigning TMac, as long as it's a sign and trade deal in which we get LeBron James.

Sigh... Tmac threads bring out the worst in this forum. You should have realized this when you started this topic.

To answer your question honestly I really don't see Tmac signing for the veterans minimum quite yet nor do I see the Rockets resigning him just yet.

Would he fit on the team again with a half court offense? Absolutely. If you think otherwise, have a conversation with Adelman or Morey and let them tell you how wrong you are.

NBA is just a business. Tmac playing just okay in a system that isn't tailored to his strengths where he could get hurt when you really want to possibly trade him doesn't make sense. If Morey determined he could get Tmac for the right price in the FA market and that he would help us win games he would in an instant.

All that said, DD was right in a roundabout sort of way. The likelihood we resign him next season is about as likely (or less) than our resigning Steve Francis again. It's possible, but surely unlikely.

Oh, I also forgot to mention that if we trade for Iguodala and Dalembert that we would be way over into luxury tax and that we couldn't possibly add a FA anyways.
