Small piece on Carl Landry Carl Landry The big problem the Rockets were supposed to have (besides issues with Yao Ming's foot and Tracy McGrady's expectations) was the lack of a star to take over games by scoring in crunch time. Aaron Brooks and Carl Landry have done plenty of that, with Landry -- one of the NBA's best post scorers -- particularly efficient in the fourth quarter. Truehoop isn't really a representative of mainstream media though. Statheads have long raved about Landry. Probably more so than even Rockets fans, as Landry has been the God of Efficiency for his entire career.
Efficiency doesn't win a ticket to the all star, and he's gotten more and more respect and recognition in that he sees more double teams coming his way every single time he touches the ball. He should be upset that he did not make it to the all star reserve.
If he keeps his production up when we actually start winning some games he may sniff the all star game sometime in his career. ie: al piggybacking the hawks success to a roster spot on the piss poor east team
Opposing teams won't be able to double Landry, without leaving Yao open next year. They will have to decide on leaving single coverage on Landry and allowing him to abuse their defense, or doubling Landry and leaving Yao open.
That would be true if you think other teams don't have league pass, let alone a decent scouting and coaching staff.
