Just a few days after Mullin said he wanted to finish his career on a winning team he signs with the team that drafted him, the Warriors.

sorry Swopa, I just don't like Mullin. And I don't think this was that great of a move for him. Or the warriors.

No problem -- that's just my standard response when someone tees off on the W's. It's actually tongue-in-cheek, but posting " [IMG] [IMG] " wouldn't make much sense, would it?

I don't think it's a great move for Mullin or the Warriors, either. But maybe Miami wouldn't make him an offer. And if GS can somehow get Keefe or Del Negro off the active roster, bringing Mullin back won't come at the expense of losing Chris Porter or another young player worth developing.

My unofficial hunch is that the Warriors made Mullin what they thought was a courtesy offer, only to be stunned when he accepted.

I disagree Swopa. I think Cowens wanted a vet who he can count on to hit the big shot in crucial situations. He also can teach Hughes a lot, if Hughes is willing to learn.

But that's more or less the role Chris Mills (who's only 30) has been playing.

I'm not the biggest Mullin expert in the world, 'cause I only started following GS about 5 years ago, but from what I'm told his reputation here was not that of a teacher or leader -- he set a good example by working phenomenally hard, but didn't take responsibility for anyone besides himself. People always wonder if the last several years might've been less disastrous if he'd tried to play a leadership role during the Webber/Nelson and subsequent Hardaway/Sprewell conflicts.

I heard Austin Croshere credit Mullin with helping him develop his game once. The Warriors do need shooting, and Mullin brings that if nothing else!

Mullin will probably go into coaching when his career is done. He has done a 180 degree turn since he left GS. He was a self absorbed player before, but not anymore. Believe when I say Cowens spoke with Bird before offering Mullin anything.

Well, perhaps I'm wrong, then, or Mullin's changed as Finn* suggests. Here's some excerpts from a wire story:

That's true Chris Mullin is 37. What the heck does that have to do with Chris Mills being 30 years old though? [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Maybe Ace doesn't know who Chris Mills is and thought it was a typo?

As for St Jean listening to the players; I'm just guessing here, but maybe he wants to avoid being choked?

Finn, I heard somewhere that he was in fact "promised" a front office job with the Warriors when he retires.
