^^^ speaking of....did u ever find that V-Span jersey or Von jersey you were looking for a few months back??? Im sure you would had to have had them personalized. Just curious.
I've been there for golf but I guess that's not an option right now. Great golf though. Chateau Whistler is better than the Nicklaus course. Other than that it is just like any other ski town, just way bigger. Ski, eat, drink ... that's about it. Or golf, eat, drink in my case.
I have been to Whistler about 5 times in the past 10 years. It is the most beautiful ski resort in North America- no comparison. I have been skiing in Vermont, all over Colorado, and upstate New York. Whistler has the best kids programs, slopes, and night life. They have been working on the Sea to Sky highway for 6-7 years. It should be completely finished by now. This is the best advice on this thread. The food is SO good. We end up eating there 2 times every trip! Make sure you take the kids, and get ready for an awesome trip.
Going with family to Vancouver over labor day weekend (Friday night arrival - Tuesday afternoon flight out of Seattle). Given the amount of time we have, how much time should we spend in Vancouver/Victoria/Whistler (and right now we're leaning towards skipping Whistler due to lack of time). We've all been to Vancouver in the summertime before, and Whistler in the wintertime. Never been to Victoria/Vancouver Island. As of now, our plan is as follows: - Arrive in Seattle on Friday at 6pm - Drive to Vancouver that night - Take the ferry Saturday morning from Vancouver to Victoria (again, none of us have been to Victoria, so we don't really know much about it) - Spend Saturday in Victoria, return to Vancouver on Sunday afternoon - Sunday night in Vancouver - Spend Monday in either Vancouver or Whistler (not sure which yet) - Monday night in Vancouver - Drive back to Seattle Tuesday morning **We also realized it'd be easier to take a ferry from Seattle to Victoria on Saturday morning, instead of driving all the way to Vancouver first. Problem with that, though, is you can't take a rental car on board in Seattle. We'd rather just keep our rental with us from Seattle, and return it back in Seattle. Suggestions?
I think you can take a washington state ferry through the San Juans to Victoria.....it is supposed to be beautiful, and you wouldn't have to deal with the border crossing wait getting to Vancouver. Don't get me wrong, I love Vancouver, but Seattle is pretty awesome as well, and you don't have a whole lot of time on this trip. I'd probably blow off Vancouver this time. Victoria is beautiful. Definitely go to the gardens, and really, there is enough site seeing, shopping and restaurants around the harbour to keep you busy for several days. Whale watching can be fun as well.
Right, there's a ferry for Victoria that leaves downtown Seattle, but it's a passenger ferry only. We'll have a rental car with us from the Seattle airport. We could always take a cab from the airport to downtown Seattle, and then rent a car once in BC, but the price difference for returning a car in a different location/country is pretty steep.
sLaNd B a L L a, if you're coming to Victoria you better go see some buskers perform! It's pretty great what they can do. Also don't go to the Wax museum it's a rip off in my opinion. If you're with kids I'd suggest miniature world. Victoria's full of scenery and great things to see so have fun!
I might not have explained well...........the Washington state ferry doesn't leave from downtown Seattle; it leaves from Anacortes just north of Seattle and goes through the San Juans on the way to Victoria (Sidney actually..........the same "Victoria" ferry landing the BC ferries use). You should still be able to take your rent car there and back and bypass Vancouver altogether. http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/info_desk/terminals/index.cfm?terminal_id=19
Good idea, but it looks like we won't be getting on the ferry until Saturday morning regardless (since we don't get into Seattle until Friday night). Would be preferable staying in Vancouver on Friday night, rather than in Anacortes (we're using Starwood points ).
I only went there once a week or so before the Olympics it was really cool.....but Vancouver was awesome too. I might enjoy working there, at some point in my life. DD
I understand......but I wouldn't stay in Anacortes..........I'd stay in Seattle. You're already there, and driving to Anacortes in the morning isn't much different than driving to Galveston from Houston. Still........I can certainly understand wanting to go through Vancouver. I love that city. But I also love Seattle. And Victoria. And Whistler............that's why it's tough for me to go up there for less than two weeks at a time.
I'm going to look into this suggestion. Is the ferry/scenery from Anacortes similar to the ferry from Vancouver? It looks like the ferry only leaves Anacortes at 8:20am, and then again at 2:30pm. It leaves from Vancouver every hour, so it might be more convenient.
