OK here is my contribution to this thread. It's such a wild idea that it will never happen but here goes. 1. Philly is desperate to get rid of some salary and get rid of Dalembert. With this deal they would loose 29 million off of their salary going into the sumer. Giving up Young would hurt but they get back Aaron Brooks who is a boarder line all-star for a little more than a million a year. 2. Toronto wants to get some value for Bosh before he walks. Samuel Dalembert, Luis Scola and Thaddeus Young are as good as they can do IMO. Young is a up and coming superstar while Scola would step right in and be solid. Dalembert's contract would be a sacrifice but he would give them a legit shot blocking reserve. 3. Houston is serious about getting some superstar talent...I think. Their line-up next season would be: Lou Williams / Kyle Lowry Iggy / Ariza Chase Budinger / Battier Bosh / Landry Yao / Anderson / Chuck Houston sends: Luis Scola to Toronto TMac to Philly Aaron Brooks to Philly Brian Cook to Philly Houston gets: Chris Bosh Iggy Lou Williams Philly sends Iggy to Houston Lou Williams to Houston Thaddeus Young to Toronto Samuel Dalembert to Toronto Philly gets TMac Brian Cook Aaron Brooks Toronto sends Chris Bosh to Houston Toronto gets: Samuel Dalembert Luis Scola Thaddeus Young
i was actually thinking of a 3-Team deal with Toronto and Philly.... Toronto gets: Battier, Landry, Dalembert Toronto gets a premier defender + great rebounder/shot blocker and an up and coming PF for half of what Bosh is being paid Philly gets: TMAC + Cook Philly gets rid of the 2 contracts that are haunting them and get $25mil in expiring without losing their core younger guys I.E. Young, Williams, Speights Houston gets: Bosh, AI, Marcus Banks (only to make salaries work) Final Lineup: Brooks/Lowry/Conroy/Banks AI/Budinger Ariza/Taylor Bosh/Scola Hayes/Andersen With this, we would also save about 4mil against the Luxury Tax...
Well, according to the rumors, Philly is willing to part with Iggy because of his massive contract, and the young talents that I meant would be Lou Williams, Thad Young, and Speights. From what I gather from the limited reports, Morey probably is asking for another one of those guys to go along with Iguodala and that has been the deal-breaker for Philly.
GREAT idea man. It seems like we don't give up too much and we get two stars! Although I think a draft pick may need to be sent to Philly.
if we were to get lucky in the lottery and land Wall and if the Rockets can also land some deals like a G.State trade (Anthony Randolph & Maggette for Battier, Dorsey and Scola)...and a Philly trade(Iggy, S.Dalembert, Young and Holiday for McGrady, Brooks, Taylor & Budinger) we would be unstoppable....with SIZE and athleticism at every position.... Championship line up 10/11 Wall(6'4)/ Holiday(6'4) Iguodala(6'7)/ Meggette(6'6) Ariza(6'8)/ Young(6'9) Randolph(6'11)/ Landry(6'9)/ Andersen(6'11) Yao(7'6)/ Dalembert(7'0)/ Hayes(6'6) (Of course its just one fans dream  ) --RB
How far do you think Les would be willing to go over the Luxury Tax? Especially if it meant winning it all? http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yjz4typ
I don't know the exact financial wherewithal of Leslie Alexander, but as a comparison, the LA Lakers current payroll is $91.3 million. According to your trade scenario, this would put the Rockets at $83 million. I might be wrong because I'm no capologist, but that's what the trade machine states. And you figure, adding Amare, Iggy, and Kevin Martin, would put the Rockets into elite category, and on paper would make them a better team than the Lakers or any other team in the NBA. Factor in great coaching by Rick the Ruler and magical GMing by Daryl Morey, you would think Les would be willing to spend that amount of money.
Les would go ovet the lux tax if it was a top 5 player who is going to give us that extra umph to the championships- eg: like an addition of a Clyde Drexler at his prime in the 1990s
I can see Iggy and Martin, but not Amare on top of that. That would be redundant with Scolandry in the fold.
should be in random trade thread, but i am not even sure this trade makes us better than the lakers. on paper we have 2 of the 3 top true shooting % players in the league with amare and martin, but their defense and passing leaves a lot to be desired. brooks martin iggy amare yao that's a nice squad but the lakers still take it with their passing, defense, rebounding, size, and kobe. yao would have to come back more dominant than ever and brooks would have to take it to chauncy billups efficiency for this team to beat the lakers imo.
I personally value Amare a lot higher than most people on this board, but even then I wouldn't say he's worth ~$10 mil(double that to 20 with the tax) more than Scola. Especially if he's not going to have the ball much with Iggy/Martin/Brooks/Yao.
you had something going here until you posted that trade scenario. we rob everyone and fill OUR needs, but they make ZERO sense for the other teams.
also, you need role players at some point. that lineup would be a huge waste of talent. You'd have basically 5 all-star capable players at every position, yet they can't all score 20 a game. Spending money to get talent you'll be wasting means its a waste of money. Iggy and dalembert make the most sense if Les is willing to spend.
