No doubt he's a monter but I think the coaches put extra emphasis on winning records. Hence why Monta Ellis was left off.
Though I dislike the Jazz, I'm happy that Deron Williams made the All-Star team. About time, I really respect his game and style of play. Also great to see Gerald Wallace make the All-Star team, he's stepping up big this year. If the Clippers had a better record and Kaman still got snubbed, I would've been pretty pissed about that. All in all, great list.
The Knicks aren't exactly a God-Awful team this season. Mitch Richmond made a lot of All Star teams, so did Pierce when the Celtics sucked, KG was an all star in Minnesota for a long time. David Lee is a special player, He's 19.4 ppg and 11.3 rebounds per game on a mediocre team, and I'd take him over Zach Randolph any day. I guess though if hard-pressed it is very hard to overlook at what Gerald Wallace has done this season. He has been beastly to say the leastly.
I was secretly hoping shaq would somehow sneak in. he makes the game/event a lot more entertaining than almost all those guys.
umm..not this year bro. zach is putting up 20 and 11 on a winning team in the west, with 3 other bonafide scorers.
I'd have agreed with that with any Zach Randolph year but this one. He has been sick. I think both deserve to make the team this year...but this year, Randolph has been every bit as good as Lee has
I really think they ned to expand the All Star rosters to 15 for each conference. That way, a few more deserving players would actually get recognized as being All Stars. Good list overall, except Kaman should have made it instead of Gasol.
Me too. At least Wallace made it with the way he is playing. I wonder if Jackson might have made it if he hadn't started the season with the Warriors.
I'm cool with the squads except for Gasol and Horford...Really like Gasol's game and what he has developed into BUT he has missed way to much time this season and injuries play a part. Horford is have a very nice season but I have to agree Lee should be on the team, no way Al should be ahead of him simply looking at the numbers and while I am sure Horford is much better defensively Lee is that much better Offensively.
I wonder if it has anything to do with Charlotte's rep. Like "nahhh, we can't really have TWO All-Stars from the BOBcats.. " Even though their play over the last 2 months has been stellar.. it takes more than that to change the basic perception
Zach Randolph is still a knucklehead waiting to happen. One of these days he'll jack up a 30 footer again. David Lee is a better basketball player and should be recognized as such. Al Horford over him is a joke.
No Landry or Brooks? Damn you Kenny, Charles, and C-Webb for the tease. haha I know it was a long shot but it would've been cool if they made it.
If the rockets allowed Tmac to play, he might be voted in. So, no allstar, no rookie for the rockets this year. Can AB make the skills challenge? Have they decided participants already?
The wrong Hawk is going. Al Horford has become a very good young player, but since when did moderate (if very efficient) scoring, good but not great rebounding, and subpar shot blocking by a young athletic center make him an All-Star? I would have sent Josh Smith instead. Smith has more but less efficient scoring, way more assists, way more steals, and nearly twice the blocks while playing at a smaller position. Not to mention he's a flashy dunker and the type of player who could entertain the crowd better during the exhibition. To be fair Horford has a slight edge on Joe Johnson in PER. But he's the leading scorer and perceived leader of the team, so there was no way he wouldn't have been picked. Horford got in because the Hawks' team record meant that they "had" to have a second All-Star, and because of the massive void in the big man positions in the East. Shaq unfortunately declined a LOT this season, and Brook Lopez got screwed by the crappiness of his teammates. Gerald Wallace is getting this first All-Star award a few years late (his real peak was in 06-07). He's getting this because the Bobcats are finally decent, and he's getting a freakish 11 rpg as a 6'7 forward (a stat that is helped by his 42 mpg). Deron Williams is way over due. I'm surprised it took this long. Derrick Rose doesn't seem like an "All-Star" to me yet. He's a good young player, but nothing really jumps out at me. 19.8 ppg (in 36.3 mpg, pretty good but not great), and so-so stats in all the other areas. Leader of a 0.500 team. But then again Iverson was voted into an undeserved starting guard position, Arenas removed himself from the equation, and the East is pretty thin in star guard talent after the no-brainer picks.
WTF? If you're going to put a Hawk in instead of David Lee, it's Josh Smith, not Al freaking Horford... What a robbery.
