That would be Dallas, biggest tease in the NBA in recent memory.

Biggest tease recently ... maybe Dallas and Phoenix. There is no way the Rockets are up there.

You are speaking from within the Rockets bubble - other than being a dark horse finals candidate last year (pre-injuries), nobody really expected this team to ever win a title.

You should change the thread title to say "Of my favorite teams in the past decade, the Rockets have been..."

Biggest tease for you personally? In other words, as a Rockets fan has the biggest tease and disappointment been your team, which happens to be the Rockets? Yup.

Can you say the same about many other fans with their team? yes.

Basically the entire time Houston's had Yao, critics have claimed him overrated. Aside from Yao and Tmac, Houston's had a teamful of scrubs and journeymen. How is that team a tease? As far as I know no one's ever picked Houston as the #1 team in the West to win a championship ANY season, so it's not like they've been overhyped either.

Probably the team with the most hype that pissed it all away for no reason is LA the year they had Karl Malone and everyone.

Dallas is not a tease because they got gipped in the Finals. They should have won that year, and they still haven't recovered from that

OK so what they got gipped in the finals, we got gipped in the first round. What difference does it make? Dallas thought they were the ish especially with Cuban running his mouth and he has nothing to show for it.

You do realize, that Alston/McGrady/Battier/Scola/Yao have never played a playoff series together?

Heck, Scola's first playoff series with this team, Alston, McGrady and Battier were all playing through injuries that they had operated on days after getting bounced by Utah. Yao has been injured a lot, sadly for a lot of NBA players and big men this happens a lot, doesn't change the fact that without him or McGrady, we probably wouldn't be in the playoffs most years and at worst, we'd be like the Clippers or Kings.

Almost nobody in the league would say that:
    Airballston
    TSlack
    Mr. No Statistics
    Scrubola
    Tofu

would contend seriously for a championship. That's just silly.

    lol that's true. **** $tern.

it's interesting though at Morey's conference at Sloan, Cuban mentioned how the most profitable time for a team is when they're rebuilding. the salary cap is low but the fans come because there's hope and excitement for the team. the marginal value of winning is very low like half a million or something since championship teams are also very expensive

@OP, being a "tease" might actually be something that some owners might want to go for, if they're looking at the bottom line

We lost a few games, and all of sudden we are the biggest tease of NBA in the last decade. Oh, well.

Talking in recent memory, the Cavs come to mind for me. Sure they've had some playoff success and reached the big show but nothing to show for it. Considering all the hype they get, what's to show?

But they are still there hanging on and they keep pushing for it..

this may sound cliche but....Patience is a Virtue..

Phoenix. Hands down. Even as late as '07 they were world-beaters in the regular season and then just wilted in the postseason. They had all the goods but just wouldn't close the deal.

At least Dallas went to an NBA Finals (and was damn near close to winning it if not for some shady calls).

Maybe the Mavs are a bigger tease because they took their fans all the way to the end and then decided they wanted to keep their virginity.

Who's a bigger tease, the gorgeous girl who gives you nothing at all, or the one who's not as hot and exciting but takes you 99% of the way there and makes you pull out at the last second?

The Rox have been solid, but never tortured us with PHO/DAL-style teasing, except for the 22-game winning streak in '08.
