I hope this finally squashes the notion that teams win championships. Teams do win championship, but more specifically superstar players win it. I think the best model is to get 2 or three star players and surround them with good role players. I wish we had a year when Yao and Tmac had the current cast, but that will never happen now. The rockets might make the playoffs, but the fact remains this is a star league. The way the rules are structured a good offensive player is pretty hard to stop even by shane battier. Another example is this years spurs. This is supposedly their deepest team ever, but the fact is duncan can't carry the team like he used to. They kind of treat him like tmac and sit him on certain nights, and spurs fans are getting of frustrated.
Chicken or the egg. How do players become known as stars and how do stars become known as superstars? By winning championships.
Eh, kind of. Plenty of "superstars" have not won rings, Barkley, Stockton, Lebron just to name a few.
