or change our rotation, don't play them together so much. i think landry should start and either ariza or battier should come off the bench, but i don't know if landry can guard most 3s. right now it feels like we have only half a defense, we need a center who can block shots, i loveeee chuck hayes, but we need a yao in there. with yao and two wing defenders i feel like our defense will be much more solid next year
after a hard night of drinking and throwing things I have come to a conclusion. I don't hate Trevor. I hate the position he's been put in. The orginazation and coaching has ruined him. they've tryed to turn him into something he's not while not bringing in a significant piece to be the Alpha dog of this team to lead. Ariza has had to change everything rhat made him succesful on a championship team. we can all say how much he sucks but that won't change anything. We can salvage this situation though. He is young and seems to really try. Work hard Trevor. Be the first at practice and the last to leave. move in with Shane while he's still on this team. focus on your defense and just let the game come to you.
Ariza has to take better shots though, and he can't even hit open shots. There comes a point when Rick has to realize that Chase is a much smarter player, shoots at a much better clip, and runs the floor well.
1. Learn to dribble the ball 2. Learn to pass the ball 3. Learn to shoot the ball 4....LEARN TO PLAY TO YOUR OWN STRENGTHS ! I don't hate the guy either, I do think Management is letting him down and may be really screwing him up by not reigning him in for his own and the teams good. Trevor needs a lot of work, and honestly, with 5 more years on his deal....I am not sure we will ever get the talent around the team to make him effective...he is just not skilled enough as a basketball player. DD
Its not all his fault. Much like with Artest last year, I think Ariza is much better suited as a 4th or 5th option on the floor. A guy who should focus on his defense and hitting open shots when the defense is drawn to the better offensive threats. A guy who should know that when the defense is not focusing on him, that is when he needs to really work at cutting to the basket and setting screens. He's been put in a pretty ****ty position, and he's shown he doesn't have the tools to succeed there.
Since 1980 Trevor has the 11th worst statistical season Some really poor shooting on there. YUCK ! DD
lol. Rafer #6 from the 22-game win streak season. I remember those bricks fondly. Also 65% from the line is by far the worst on that list.
DM: So, uh, should I call the Cavs and see if they are still interested? RA: Does a bear crap in the woods? DD
Horrors! On the same list as Baron Davis, John Starks, Jason Kidd (x5), Chauncey Billups, Allen Iverson, Nick Van Exel. . . . I think I threw up in my mouth. I know: you'll say those players have other qualities. And I will say: but the list itself is virtually meaningless.
we should make a "Photoshop the Ariza hate" thread.... i bet there's a lot of material to work with for that one
I agree with you. Ariza would be better off as a Shane Battier 2.0 type player. It's glaringly obvious he's not capable of playing the way the Rockets apparently envisioned he would.
To Clutch Crew, I recommend we STICKY this thread so that DM will see it every time he looks at ClutchFans! -------------------------------------- It has been mentioned that there seems to be "understandings" and "promises" between RA/DM and Trevor about his unearned role on the team. I think there has actually been a "misunderstanding" between Trevor and Rick. You see, when RA and DM asked Trevor to show the Rocket's what he can bring to the table, he thought they said to show them EVERYTHING he CAN'T bring to the table. Seriously, if management KNOWS that he sucks and is hopeless, but insists on giving him 40MPG WHEN there are OTHER promising options available--then we fans deserve better. And don't worry about free agents shying away from Houston, our guys are the hard working, unselfish, and very fun to watch play. Free agents look at the whole picture and not just one guy. And those hoping that he will improve during the balance of the season, don't hold your breath. Fundamentals are developed in the offseason. Right now, Trevor is basically holding a gun to the fan's and Rockets' heads. No guard who wants' to take it to the next level shoots 65% from the FREE-throw line AND 30% form the three. (And to think, we used to get upset at a 38% 3pt shoot named Rafer.) But, let's not get into the stats--they have been beat to death. If this is about promises, then the only promise that should be made should be to the fans. Put the best team on the floor and give us the belief that we are doing the best we can with the talent we have. We LOVE every other player on this team. Even with T-mac, if he was 100% healthy, most of the board would be supporting him.
Obviously LeBron makes everyone better. Trevor would even get a chance at another ring. Of course, then he'd be stuck in Cleveland with no LeBron should The King decide to leave this summer. I don't think we'll trade Ariza, but I wouldn't mind Cleveland's draft pick. Morey is better with draft picks than with free agent signings so far.
