When the refs failed to call Brooks for a walk toward the end of the game... Elliot was completely and sincerely pissed. So entertaining.
Hey guys, I don't know if any announcers ever mentioned this, but Matt Harpring played football! I don't really have a problem with it. Imagine if LeBron played football; I'm pretty sure we'd hear something about the basketball career he left behind.
Well, it wasn't really an insult. Budinger missed a wide open fast break dunk. He was rejected by the front of the rim. That's why they talked about his volleyball and jumping skills.
Every time the season starts I get the league pass for free for a week, and listening to the opposing commentators some of them do a good job of explaining the plays the teams are running and why they are running. More basketball knowledge then what we are use to with Bill and the boys.
Es okay, in the next few years they'll be talking about how this NBA All Star was an ex volley ball player. I thought vball players got all the hot chicks, on da beach!
I'm offended they didn't mention his nickname: Sir Beach Nudge Link: http://bbs.clutchfans.com/showthread.php?t=177896
In my opinion when most commentators mention it they do so to justify the compliment on his atheleticism. There is absolutely nothing femenine about collegiate men's volleyball. You wanna try to return one of those spikes? Or do you wanna get out of the way?
You misread his statement. Anyway, most of the instances I've heard other broadcast teams mention this, it was just as an interesting factoid about Chase. No big deal and nothing derogatory.
They bring up the fact that he played volleyball, but say nothing about the fact he used to use a razor scooter to get accross campus? I think that's way more embarassing.

I dunno what your talking about, they mention he's a national caliber volleyball player and a leaper.. Also.. Sean Elliot is the commentator who says LOOK OUT.. before Budinger goes up to dunk.. Sean Elliot played for Arizona in the 90s and he probably knows alot about Budinger, I highly doubt he's making fun of him
As well as a world class track athlete. I believe was NCAA broad jump champion back when they had that as an event. He is the reason you can't cross the free throw line until after the ball is released. He used to broad jump and dunk his free throws and shot 100% from the line until they added that rule.
