My wife and I have our 6th anniversary coming up, and I was wondering if anyone has a suggestion of which place to eat at the Kemah Boardwalk.
Years ago the best place to eat in Kemah was the Flying Dutchman. It's probably as good as anywhere else...almost all the places there are owned by Landry's now so my understanding is that it's 6 of one half a dozen of the other.
Come on, somebody give me a description or something. I don't want to just go and randomly "hope" I get the best deal. Anyone know pricing at all? Style of cuisine? Etc. I think it's all seafood, but what style? Cajun, traditional?
Kemah Crab House: Just that, Crab house, kinda like Pappas, price: average $15-25 per person If you REALLY wanna impress your wife, take her to the Aquriam (sp?), pretty cool place, but the food comes at a price. I estimate around $20-$30 per person Joe's Crab Shack, Cadalliac Bar, Landry's, and the other places are the same restarunts that are located all around Houston
No prob, have fun and congradulations on 6 years! When going out in the boardwalk, feed the fishes, its pretty fun to do.
Aquarium kinda sucks. I think Landrys is probaby the best. Dont eat downstairs though. Make reservations for upstairs which is a little more formal and expensive.
By the way, why do you want to go to Kemah? Its not as exotic as it seems. I mean its nice, but ehh... If you want a romantic place try: Rainbow Lodge - a wooden cabin type place close to the galleria. Romantic, not super expensive and awesome food! Brenners Steakhouse - Best steak you will ever eat and its pretty romantic. A little on the expensive side though. Aldo's Con Amore (sp?) - You wont find a more romantic place in the world. An Italian place in a small house, live harp player and awesome awesome food. Really really expensive though. I would recommend Aldos if price is not an object. Trust me on that one, I know restaurants.
Okie dokie. Just try to make it during sunset. That is probably the best time to be eating at the boardwalk. Aquarium's food is okay. Nothing to brag about. Prices are decent. The restaurant looks pretty damn cool from the inside, but thats about it. Landrys upstairs is really nice like I said. Prices range anywhere from $20-$40 per entree, but its worth it.
Agreed! It's definitely worth one trip though. If you do decide to go, make sure you arrive very early because the wait for a table is usually one to two hours on the weekends, or see if they will let you make some sort of reservation. Try REALLY hard to get a table right next to the main aquarium tank. Otherwise, you will be seeing the backs of people's heads most of the night. As for the food, it's par with what you can get at most decent seafood places...somewhat pricey though. You can always jump on the otherside of the waterway and eat at Pappadeaux. The view is not that good but the food is a bit better (IMO).
My wife and I go and sneak into the Aquarium to see the fishes, but we never eat there....it's certainly not the best in food. If we want to eat in that area, we go across the bridge to the other side and eat at Pappadeaux. Pappa's has pretty decent food at most of their restuarants, but that Pappadeaux and the Pappa's seafood on 45 in Clear Lake are their two best places IM not so HO. There are a ton of seafood stores near that Pappadeaux too, so you can always bring a cooler and stock the freezer. There's a Japanese place right as you drive into the Kemah boardwalk area that has some of the best sushi rolls. Their standard fare is pretty good, but not the best I've had, but some of their rolls are the best. You can always visit Kemah without eating there. If you're gonna be in that area and want to eat close by, I'd ALWAYS suggest eating at Perry's grill. I hate to use the tired phrase "to die for," but their Chateau Briand is worth a good murder/suicide. In fact, everything they offer is top notch.
I almost forgot...T-Bone Tom's on Highway 146 at the base of the Clear Creek bridge right past the Kemah Boardwalk entrance has good grilled food. Pretty decent bar-b-que and great burgers. My wife loves their pork chops and grilled chicken. Worth a try if you're in the mood for grilled Texas food as compared to seafood.
My gf & I eat there whenever we spend a weekend at the bay. Definitely better than anything on the Boardwalk, excepy maybe -on one of their good days - Landry's. The burgers at Tookie's kick @ss.
Wow..twice in one day...gotta agree here...Tookie's has really goood burgers.. Also T-Bone Tom's has great food all around...Eat there and then cruuise down 146 to the Boardwalk. Or even better...go eat on the Seawall in Galv and stroll down the beach...The beaches aren't the best lookin place on earth..but ya can't see it that well at night anyway... When is yall's anniversary? Our 8th is on the 5th of next month.. Congrats on 6...
I would recommend the Cadillac Bar...but that is only because my dad's band is playing there this weekend. But their food is still pretty good.
No way. The Stomp's Ice House Special or the #99. Best burgers ever and the onion rings are a must as well.
