The Grizzlies would be foolish not to trade Gay if they know he will walk away for nothing during the summer. He's a talented player who won't be worth a giant contract. If he could comes to grips with it, at best Rudy Gay will be a solid 3rd option on a very good team during his career. He disappears too much for me and doesn't add a lot of "intangibles" when he's on the floor.

The Grizzlies should shop him, be realistic at what they can get and pull the trigger right before the trade deadline. But I don't think he is worth much as a short-term rental to another team so they might end up keeping him. The Grizzlies are in a poor bargaining position.

Averages 6 rebounds, a block, and a steal per game.

Everyone picks at Gay for not being a particular great defender, or a great team player or shooting too much.

But, yet we have Ariza hoisting away shots, like Kobe. And shooting under 40% a game and nearly 30% from 3 point range.

Yet, you have Gay who is a career 45% shooter (35% from 3pt range) and averaging nearly 5 more points than Ariza, even though they are averaging similar shot attempts.

If Memphis wants Battier or Ariza. I'd think about Battier, but for Ariza...I'd have that trade done before midnight.

Props to Rudy Gay in the 1st half tonight. The Grizzlies completely blew the big lead, but Gay is playing with some serious fire. If he brought this every night, he would be an impact player. I doubt it, but maybe he'll figure it out some day.

You must not know much about NBA salaries. Mcgrady makes almost $24 mil compared to Gays $3mil. You would have to trade 8 Rudy Gays to make a Mcgrady trade.

Rudy Gay is no superstar but still I doubt the Rockets ever expected him to be as good as he is.

Gay stunk the entire 2nd half, especially the 4th quarter, until he hit the game-winner with one second left. He has a knack for hitting late jumpers. It reminds me of Robert Horry.

Battier and Dorsey for Gay and Steven Hunter. The money works out and at least we would have a 7 footer.

highlight real clutch... not so much if you watched the game. His offense and defense late in the 4th kept the Thunder in the game. Marc Gasol was the clutch Memphis player.

I like the idea of Gay and Battier as principles in a deal. Unfortunately, I only follow the Rockets and pretty much ignore the rest of the NBA, but previously, there was a lot of talk about them moving Conley. I would love to use Conley as the guy to make up the $$ difference. I still think he has a chance to be very good in this league.

I was thinking that I'd even be willing to go as high as Gay, Conley, #1 in upcoming draft for Battier and Brooks or Lowry. Not knowing how to evaluate these guys, my gut is telling me that is overpaying but I'd at least consider it.

Am I way out in left field?
