They all have DVR's and skip the commercials. Not all Baby Boomers do.

Oh please. Kevin Nealon was a likable, telegenic person who was still duller than molasses. I think he and Bob Saget accidentally switched auditions back in the mid-80s.

    Kevin Nealon is hilarious.

His standup is pretty funny, and his role on Weeds is one of the best characters in TV history.

I normally temper my expectations when it comes to entertainment, but tonight might be one of the most epic late night tv shows you'll ever see.

Will Ferrell, Tom Hanks, and I've read that there might be an appearance by Steve Carrell.

probably, but i can't imagine that coming out of left field and encouraging everybody to watch letterman would be off limits or something they ever would have anticipated.

    ...

You are so smart. Indeed, that is ingenius. Now you can go tell that to all the networks so they can stop making shows non-retirees watch.

The best combination of humor and star power. Can't wait.

But I have to say, the best shows ever have been when Christopher Walken or Mr. T were on. Those interviews were like a comedy sketch, but unscripted and real. And Conan has great chemistry with both of them.

My point is that you cannot deny that 80 million people (in Jay's demographic) still have twice as much money as 35 million people... and they may still in 17 years...

Neither Jay, nor YOU think Jay will be on by that point, but for now... It's part of the decision.

To think otherwise is not to think.

Again, you should take your brilliant observation to the networks or advertisers, so they can make more money.

You know why? Because right now, networks base their advertising rates ONLY on 18-49 demographic. I think CBS is a little different, something like 25-52 demo. That's right, they basically ignore everyone else. Of course, I'm talking about TV at night, not audience-specific channels like cartoon network or Disney.

For example, the median viewer of Leno/Letterman is ~56 years old. That means MAJORITY of the viewers DON'T MATTER AT ALL when NBC/CBS determine their advertising fees for these shows. Anyway, I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm just saying that if you're right, then a lot of TV/advertising people should get fired for utter stupidity.

And we're discussing late night, after the evening news, which more older folk watch... especially if they identify with the host... Notice even Craig Ferguson's numbers were beating Conan's? An hour later...

The age brackets you speak of are targeted during PRIME TIME... apples and oranges, methinks... in this case.

I agree with you on prime time.
