This is getting to be a pet peeve of mine. It seems like every thread about any current Rockets' player doing well there will always be a few posters who will write something like "This is great! It makes them their trade value that much higher." or something along those lines.

I understand we are a team with no superstars right now in the middle of the pack but in general we are playing good entertaining ball. Can we just enjoy the success of current Rox without thinking about how we can trade them everytime they have a good game?

I'm happy with the current Rockets.

I don't think I'd be happy if just hoping to make the playoffs and having a winning season was the extent of the team's foreseeable future.

That's like being an Astros fan...

Agreed. People are so trade-crazy that it seems the only way they look at anything regarding the team is in terms of how it affects a trade. It's as annoying as the thread that asks if they should be tanking to get a better draft pick. It's like people are obsessing 100 percent of the time on rebuilding the team, as if they're playing fantasy basketball or something. The Rockets are not bad; they are young and improving and fun to watch.

We have stars, it is just that many fans are slow at recognizing it, until someone in the national media tells them.

Brooks is a star and landry is on his way too !

I think it is hilarious that posters will think a good game will increase the value of a player in the eyes of other GMs, even though they themselves (the posters) continue to understand that player's real value, one great game notwithstanding.

Actually I'll admit it, even though I enjoy watching the Rockets right now with no expectations, I do think one of the goals this year was to develop our young players and by doing so also raise their trade value...you know, just in case the right offer comes along ;) I think in that regards, we've succeeded on both ends while winning.

True, but we have players that are starting to grow into stars along with another star who will be back.

Can't we just enjoy our players playing well? I mean Daryl Morey listened to the GARM he would've traded the whole team by now and posters would probably be talking about trading those players too.

Also lets not forget that getting a star is no guarentee that the Rockets will do better. They might do worse.

    Wait, what about the '00...oh.

Really though, I don't know that you need stars in this league. I know that it's been done that way by most champions. But Morey & Co. are challenging a lot of NBA conventional wisdom. "Yeah, we can win with a 6'6" center."

I'm not saying they don't need more talent than they currently have. I'm just saying just because it's not the typical way to contend (going with depth of "good" talent rather than one or two "great" talents) doesn't mean it can't be done. Either way, we're certainly not contending this year, but with Yao back next year? Sure, I think the Rockets can build a contender around with without another big name—provided Yao can give them 30 Yao-like minutes.

Exactly! Decide for yourself who is a star, instead of waiting until someone gets anointed and only giving them the proper credit and appreciation at that time.

    It's all about expectations

This season is easy for us. we know that Rockets are an average team, we don't have a lot of chances to make a playoffs, not a lot of chances to win big or to become something huge. we have a chance just to take pleasure or Rockets basketball, their intensity, Adelman's genius and other thing. I tell you one thing: it's much more easier to have a season like this than it was last year, when everybody has a championship expectations, but the level of play was not good enough and every fan wanted to find a reason and start bashing somebody. T-Mac, Artest, Yao, Clanton, Rick, Brooks, Alston...

we are just relaxin' now. take it eazzzzyyy

I think you overestimate the intelligence of NBA GMs, my friend.

I bet Morey is looking at their improvement and is thinking he can use them to obtain a Star player. And sorry DD, but i'm not ready to call Brooks a star yet. Stars at his position are Deron Williams, Tony Parker, and Chris Paul. He is not at their level yet.

Anyone who thinks Tony Parker is a superstar and Brooks is not, please go and check their stats and team rosters.

Paul and Deron's stats are better than Brooks, yes. But their teams are way TALENTED than Rockets, so with considering we're on the same page with Paul and Deron's teams in the standings that means Brooks is carrying Rockets as much as Paul&Deron carry their teams.

Smith and BARKLEY picked up Brooks before the Cp3-Parker-Deron for the 2010 all-star team reservers last night, so I'm happy finally Brooks getting some recognize from the national media.

They also said that the only reason they did that was because the Rockets deserved to have someone on it because their record was a lot better than anyone thought it would be. Funny how people usually blow off Barkley and Smith unless they say something good about the Rockets. I guess now they're both credible. I doubt anyone, including yourself, would not swap Brooks for any of those 3.

Oh and by the way, I never said anything about anyone being a Super Star, I said star, but those 3 are closer to it than Brooks is at this time.
