what would kanye say though? The President is black and the victims are black. hmm... Earthquake does not like black people? I'm sorry but i highly doubt he would act up especially that there arent any major white leaders taking in charge of things. He only seems to lose his mind when he's around white folks...

Kanye can help start proving it isn't all about him by not making a big stink about being excluded.

He could talk about historical context and alternating neglect and exlpoitation of Haiti by non-black countries. Ironically enough, it would be equally annoying, embarrassing and inappropriate, but a lot more accurate.

All in all the guy's either got to grow up or stop drinking, and just learn how to behave.

As for the telethon, has anyone actually called one of these where stars are answering the phones and spoken to one of them? If so, then could you share your story? I know they are just people who are celebrities...but this would seem kind of awkward. I would expect most phone calls to be cordial...but this is a situation that is not normal. I would expect most callers to be smitten and fumbling their words...probably saying a bunch of stupid stuff regarding how much they like the celeb and celeb's films, etc....with stuff like "horrible situation in Haiti" and "we have an obligation to do something" mixed in...along with your credit card info and donation amount.

I was wondering if anyone had any funny or memorable experiences doing this? I would think if some of the women calling in spoke to Brad Pitt or Johnny Depp or someone...then they would be like bumbling, flirting idiots.

I don't remember all the love for the Tsunami victims a while back.

They should have Tyra Banks explaining how the Earthquake in Haiti was like when she was teased in elementary school for being too thin.

I think there are a lot of factors for that which has nothing to do with skin color. IMO...when a tragedy happens a half a world away...I expect other nations closer to the devastation to step up more than the US should be expected to. This isn't the US should take lead roles and care of all devastating tragedies around the world regardless of location. Also, Bush Sr. and Clinton made a really big push for tsunami relief and rebuilding which was quite effective...so you cannot discount that. That is why Bush Jr. and Clinton are doing this yet again for Haiti.

Since this tragedy happened so close to the US and we know how rampant poverty was in Haiti before this, it is much more noticed around here and we realize we have to play a lead role in aid given the close proximity. Those other areas affected by the tsunami were not anywhere near as bad off before the tsunami hit. They were tourist areas and people were able to make a living...unlike the conditions in Haiti where many people were jobless and poor.

Next, the tsunami basically swept away people to their deaths. There weren't a lot of injured survivors suffering as much as there were survivors with loss of infrastructure. Aid was able to flow into the tsunami areas easier than Haiti. People weren't buried under rubble expected to be found alive. We never heard of many of those survivors on the verge of starvation and unable to get medical care...just that many of them in low-lying areas were made homeless.

Text message donations...don't remember those being around for the tsunami devastation. I think it would have made a difference. Those have become really popular for this current devastation and have turned donation giving viral.

I was similarly affected by both tragedies and gave to both. I'm not saying my assessment is spot on...but I think I have some valid points.

Hey, he was actually standing up for Beyonce on that famous night. Kanye does care about others too! So what if he took the mic from some girl. He shouldn't be exiled for that one incident. It wasn't even a big deal like other made it to be. Let it go. It was only Taylor Swift. She'll live.

I imagine his Bush-hates-black-people scandal had a lot more to do with the ban. The Swift incident just reminds us that he can't be trusted to mend his ways.

Kanye just needs to be teamed with a pro like Mike Myers.

Mike kept on goin with a straight face.

    I would have started laughing.
