I know it's preliminary, but these are my thoughts on the offseason and next years roster. I am doing this draft based on the possiblity of us keeping Dunta, Owen, Demeco, and Pollard,with the addition of Center Kevin Mawae from the Titans for a year or 2. I have us losing Walter and Pitts. 1st rd - Dan Williams - DT - Tennessee - 6'3 327 2nd rd - Mike Johnson - OG - Alabama - 6'5 305 3rd rd - Kam Chancellor - FS - Virginia Tech - 6'3 230 4th rd - Charles Scott - RB - LSU - 5'11 234 5th rd - Justin Cole - OLB/ILB - San Jose St. - 6'3 240 6th rd - Pat simmonds - WR - Colgate - 6'6 222 7th rd - Brett Swenson - K - Michigan St. - 5'8 185 2010 HOUSTON TEXANS OFFENSE: QB - Schaub/Orlowski RB - Slaton/Scott/Foster FB - Leach/Casey WR - Johnson/Davis WR - Jones/Anderson/Simmonds TE - Daniels/Casey/Hill LT - Brown/Butler LG - Johnson/Studdard C - Mawae/Myers RG - Caldwell/Studdard RT - Winston/Butler DEFENSE: RE - Williams/Barwin RT - Okoye/Cody LT - Williams/A. Would you guys accept Big John Henderson and also Rashean Mathis for your first and second round pick?
The Kicker you got listed in the 7th round won't last that long. Last time I checked he was the number 1 rated kicker in this years draft. Good kickers usually end up in the 5th round.
Seriously. How many 1st rounders has Houston burned on the D-line. You've got Babin, Williams, Okoye, T Johnson...
2010 NFL Free Agent Defensive Tackles Vince Wilfork, New England Patriots (28) Richard Seymour, Oakland Raiders (30) Aubrayo Franklin, San Francisco 49ers (30) Casey Hampton, Pittsburgh Steelers (32) Ryan Pickett, Green Bay Packers (30) Tony Brown, Tennessee Titans (29) Kendrick Clancy, New Orleans Saints (32) Barry Cofield, New York Giants (26) Jason Ferguson, Miami Dolphins (35) Kedric Golston, Washington Redskins (27) Tank Johnson, Cincinnati Bengals (28) Travis Johnson, San Diego Chargers (28) Fred Robbins, New York Giants (33) Clifton Ryan, St. Louis Rams (26) Tank Tyler, Carolina Panthers (25) – Restricted FA
And you know that out of all those players the Texans will somehow find a way to sign the wrong one.... lmao at Travis Johnson being on the list, automatic hell to da naw. I would like Cofield or Brown in our system and you know how much we love ex Titans/Oilers.
Hampton wasn't always a 3-4 NT. I know its been years since his Texas years but he was highly touted in their 4-3 system when coming out of college. Either way, this guy would impact a team with his huge size and his inside tackling. No doubt, why would you not want him? We've seen worse signings by the Texans over the years so I doubt if they did find a way for Big Hamp to come back down to Texas, it'd be one of the worst in the existence of the organization. He'd be a for sure upgrade to what they have at the time that's for sure.
He hasn't played in a 4-3 for 10 years, he'll be 33 when the season starts and we'll have to overpay to get him. I'm against paying guys who are past their prime, unfamiliar with the system we play and looking for one last big payday. That's a recipe for disaster in my opinion. Is he talented? Of course, and if it was the right system and the right amount of money I'd be for it. Neither is the case for the Texans at this point.
travis johnson? seriously? u really think hes a viable option and that the Texans would wana re-sign that sorry sack of $h!t?.. wow
I want them to draft Colt McCoy and Shippley. With all do respect i like Matt Shaub but I honestly dont think he can get us to a superbowl. Colt McCoy will be one of those steals in the draft. He lead all quarterbacks in nearly all the stats. He knows how to close games and he is a winner. He has a great arm and he's a play maker under preassure he keeps his compossure and finds a way to beat teams. Shippley because we beed a slot receiver.Aso he's stat's or off the roof led all stat's too. Im not saying put Colt McCoy as a starter.Let him sit on the bench learn the game in the pro level, and in a a year or two we will have a superbowl quarter back. Colt McCoy start's and you have a a great sub. in Matt Shaub.
Wow....... Texas Homer fan much ? Matt Schaub is easily a top 10 quarterback in the league. He's still young and most teams would die to have him. Why would we draft another wide receiver ? We are more than set at that position. We signed Schaub to a long term contract anyway and he's proven unlike Mccoy. And many scouts say Mccoy is stil questionable at the NFL level.
Proven how? never even making it to the playoff for how long know? Im not saying hes not good but lets be honest hes not going to get us to a super bowl. Why daft a slot like shippley, we have nobody that can catch those short passes and has that explosiveness to run it Scouts lol like they dont make mistakes lol Tom Brady how many scouts arent still kicking them selves for that one. in my opinion
Last year was Matt Schaubs first full season as the Texans QB he had a superb passer rating and threw for the 6th most yards in NFL history. Doing all that without a running game. How is that not a proven quarterback ?
