Apparently PTI talked about this the other day... so the KYSports Radio site decided to look at the numbers...

    http://kentuckysportsradio.com/?p=41883

What they don't discuss is the bench.. in all honesty that's something I may consider and send my conclusion to the guys there :)

    What say you? :)

(ps didn't know if I should post this in the NBA dish or the College forum... so feel free to move it if necessary)

What's there to analyze? Nets would blow away the Wildcats pure and simple. They'd dominate every matchup.

I guess the only argument would be whether the Kentucky players after 2-3 years in the NBA may constitute a better team than this year's Nets.

I think this is absolutely nuts. Especially the parts about Yi and Lee. It's taken Yi a while to adjust to the NBA, but he's getting it now, and I sincerely doubt Patterson could handle him. And really? A 6'1 point guard is going to have his way with Courtney Lee? I sincerely doubt it. Who knows if Bledsoe will even be a quality NBA player. Courtney Lee is already a decent NBA player. The same goes for Lopez vs. Cousins. He seems to reluctantly give a slight edge to Lopez? Lopez is a legit 7 footer who is in the process of becoming one of the better centers in the league. Cousins has a lot to prove before you can say that's even close. For cryin' out loud, his college stats aren't as impressive as Lopez's NBA stats.

    Yeah. Wow. Dumb.

This. That comparison was laughable and completely one-sided for Kentucky fans.

I feel sorry for anyone who believes a college team could take on a nba team.

How dumb could these guys be? The only matchup that the Wildcats could win is John Wall/Harris, and only because Wall is looking like a hall of fame pg down the line.

Comparing NBA stats versus college stats is meaningless because the average NBA player is a college star. Its like an allstar college team against a normal college team, you think they'd stand a chance? C'mon now

Nets would whomp the Wildcats. This is as stupid as when people were comparing the #1 college football team in the nation to the Detroit Lions a few years ago.

Devin Harris, Brook Lopez, + 3x Brian Cook each playing 48 minutes each would murder Wall and his crew.

The Nets would destroy the Wildcats....dumb arguement.

That's like a year ago Detroit Lions vs Florida.

    Would be a massacre

The main difference is that the KY guys are getting paid a little more than the Nets guys because KY isn't subject to the NBA's salary cap.

KY will bet the Nets, but that win will be wiped out eventually due to NCAA violations.

Slight Edge to Brook Lopez? He would command double teams and make UK powerless.

Stupid article, even the worst NBA teams would kick college team's ass.

You have to remember, even the ****tiest players on an NBA team were once stars or good players in college level. Look at guys like Adam Morrison.

The Nets are D-League bad right now, which is surprising since Brook Lopez is actually turning into a very good player. Kentucky is very good, but also strikes me as a young team that would have difficulty matching the size of an NBA team and ultimately get worn down in a 48 minute battle.

Devin Harris clearly isn't the PG he was last year after coming back from injury. Nothing is there, the jumper, the defense... the explosiveness.

I actually think John Wall is a better player right now than Devin Harris. Thats fair. But to say Brook Lopez is "slightly better" than DeMarcus Cousins is ludicrous.

This is pretty ridiculous. Even John Wall is definitely not better than Devin Harris right now.

I think the Nets would handily beat any of the top college teams.

In addition to the greater physicality and skill differential, there are a lot of other factors that would make it extremely difficult for any college team to beat the worst team in the NBA in any given season.

The 24-second shot clock, facing a different type of offense/defense than they're used to seeing at the collegiate level, officiating would probably be different, 48 minutes instead of 40, etc...

This was like when people suggested the Miami Hurricanes from 2001 could beat the Cincinnati Bengals or Carolina Panthers or Detroit Lions or some team from around 2001.

Actually that might be more of a legitimate discussion than UK versus the Nets. The Nets would destroy any team not in the NBA.

I think right now at this point in time I'd rather have John Wall on my team than Harris.

Harris stats are abysmal. He was an all-star last year and this season he's been complete trash.
