I think a max player is a go-to guy when you need a bucket and that's not Howard. He would be the 3rd or 4th option on that team.

    Suprised to see that.

I thought the Suns were building on something, but I guess they want young talent for when Steve Nash retires

He dominates on the defensive end so he deserves max money.

Landry has a higher PER than Stoudemire. Plus Amare plays for Phoenix so his stats are inflated. I would never trade for a player from Phoenix, GS, or Utah and expect them to put up similar numbers. Utah has a different System than everyone else, GS and Phoenix play at a high pace than everyone else.

Brandon Roy will deserve a max contract eventually.

So basically, Mutumbo is the best center in the league right now.. The lack of quality centers in the NBA today sucks...

That's exactly right. While he might not hit a three at the end of the game, which is what most people seem to fancy, he probably would have grabbed a rebound against the Jazz which would have sealed the deal for a certain team. In the right context, and shown in the right light, a game winner doesn't have to be an offensive play. I vote for Dwight Howard as the best center in the game; the guy's a game changer for sure.

I don't see it this way. You can have a game plan to mitigate his defensive contribution easier than you can have a game plan to stop Kobe.

Ben Wallace had years that he rivaled Dwights rebounding, shotblocking and defensive contributions (in fact I'd say he more more dominating a defender as he was more versatile- could guard a wider range of players) but I don't think anyone was mentioning him as a max player. He did score 6 or 7 points per game less than Dwight.
