We had a deal in place for Vince Carter last season?

Carter in the RA system is better than Carter in the SVG system.

DM was ready and really had made the trade.

Of course, AB was most likely going with #3 and we probably would still have had Rafer starting for us in the playoffs..

The non trade of McGrady snowballed some positives for us too. AB starting at point and Lowry backing him up.

    Who said anything about great?

Inserting a 20/5/5 player last year would have been beneficial. (44% fg & 39% 3fg)

dm has really gotten lucky. I think brooks or landry was included. Carter is a shell of himself, his contract is HUGE and we would have lost landry.

So no, the rockets would have looked WORSE against the lakers. Yao was injured,no yao,no landry(included in carter deal),carter is very injury prone. We would have been swept.

Morey he drafted greene and now greene looks terrible, but luckily greene scored 40 in a summer league game against kings to get us artest. So getting artest (now ariza) prevented us from having to have greene rot on the bench for 4 years. Although i still have hope for ariza .

Morey i think cut landry after the first summer league, but by some miracle, landry was let back into practices and shined and was giving a last minute cheap contract. (im not sure the whole story)

Morey has some good luck dont he?

The Rockets came close last season, but did it through hard work, effort, team defense and by trusting each other. These are all qualities that are not associated with Wince Carter.

I strongly believe that Carter would have taken this team in the wrong direction. He's fragile, has a poor attitude, and is a volume shooter that is allergic to defense. It's been said before, but look at Orlando this year. This is the VC that we would be tied to. I saw a game a few weeks ago where he took a jump shot, landed and grimaced in pain but no one had touched him. And the shot missed badly, in case you were wondering.

I'm also in agreement that we dodged a bullet thanks to McG, but it's just the principle in how it was all handled.

    you guys are nuts.

if i remember it correctly it was more like the nets wanted mcgrady + some talent for carter and morey declined because he thought carter's contract is just too big and because he didn't want to give up brooks and landry.

it's basically the same situation now with the rockets and the sixers. the rumors say that the sixers would trade iguodala + dalembert for the right package from the rockets but in reality morey probably just asked if iguodala would be available.

man, even if you believe that morey wanted to make the nets deal you guys should thank mcgrady 1000 times for announcing his microfracture surgery before it went down. we would be even in a worse situation than we already are if the deal went down. plus, we wouldn't have beaten the lakers either without brooks, landry or maybe both of them.

this was all over the place last year, not sure how anyone didnt know bout this rumor[/I, which is what i believe it was. If i remember correctly the Nets wanted a young guy back, most likely landry or brooks, and Houston didn't seem willing to part with that. There was talk about both sides couldnt agree to a deal. Its not as close as it's been made out to be and i find it hilarious that this blog is citing inside sources like this is some breaking news when it's been talked about for a year now.

Carter's numbers are down because he's playing injured (Yeah - VC has actually been an ironman since he left Toronto *shock*). Pretty sure he'll be fine in a month or so...

That's why you don't just look at the box score without context.

its not like the rockets would have remained the #4 seed with carter

if they got him chances are they would have been the #2 seed..i am sure carter would have helped us to win a few more games there (we were what 2 games out of the #2 seed?) and we would have met the lakers in the WCF (pretty sure could have beaten the hornets and mavs last season in a playoff series with HCA)

and had yao stayed healthy then who knows what could have happened if the rockets faced the magic in the finals it'd be like 95 again.

so yes the team is in it to win championships i believed that getting carter last year could have help the team win it all last year...

Wow, surprised to see so many people in this thread claiming that Morey was about to make a huge blunder. I thought he was golden. (Still do.) There are lots of smart people on this board whom Morey must consult before doing the next big deal.

The trailblazers were the perfect match up. I would not have wanted to play utah or the mavs.

    Brian,
You must not watch any SAC games. Greene is developing into a nice player. He's not getting the minutes because they are stack at that position and especially since K-Mart is back. I'm not saying he's going to be an allstar, but don't give me this crap that D. Morey is lucky. He wouldn't be highly regarded in the NBA if he was just lucky...

Even if we did get Carter we could probably still deal him for an expiring like Illgauskas this season to get out of it. It would have been a solid deal one way or the other.

People 'assault' RA on his 'handling' of McG. I don't. I am truly regretful we have come to this, but we have; he has; he did this to himself.

McG needs to be traded - well. I hope Minny is where well happens.

Really. That's the best you can come up with. I've been on this board since 98 you putz. I've been, watching rocket games since before Moses Malone. Good umm argument to really solidify your point.
