Hawk fan here stoping by to see how Ming is coming
along.I'd say the Rockets are my second favorite
team, but I really only keep up with the Hawks(Yes I
know we are terrible)but I came to like the Rockets
more when they got Clyde Drexler and of course
had Hakeem.

Is Griffin going to start at the 3 or the 4?What do
you predict from Yao Ming this year?

Griffin won't start. He's a 4 tho.

Nice to see the fans from the ATL reppin for the Rocks. Hawks got Dickau at the point...i guess u guyz are moving Terry to the 2. Best of luck...much respect to the hawks. Big fan of Nique.

I don't know what to predict of Ming, but even stats like 10ppg 8rpg 2bpg would be very appreciated.

WIll not start??That's a shocker to me!AH
he will probably be there by mid season=)

Dickau is going to be the backup. We can't
start Terry at the SG because we have
a winning record with him at the point and
of course the terrible record at the 2 Guard.

Dickau doesn't look Great in the summer
league so he obviousally isn't ready to be a
starter and wouldn't want him to be one.

Terry
Dermarr Johnson
Ira Newble
Abdur Rahim
Ratliff

But we are going to make a trade for a SF
someont during this offseason so I am not sure
who will really start at SF.

I remember when you had Barkley/Hakeem/Willis/
Drexler/Maloney/Eddie Johnson you should have
went to the finals if it wasn't for John Stockton.

I might stick around here=)This site has probably
the best reputation of any site in the sports world.

Your right that Eddie will probably start midseason, but he isn't ready yet.KT and Mo will be the starter.(although KT may be gone. He'll probably start in the beginning.)

Terry, Ratliff and Rahim kinda scare me!:)

Ratliff scares me aswell...every game going to have
to worry about him getting hurt.

How many games do you think the Rockets will
win?

I say we win 38 games.

It kinda depends on some things. If we remain healthy, MO T comes back strong, and if Eddie and Yao surprise, I see good things for this team. Maybe 45-50 wins? If headaches come back, we are in trouble.

Is 38 wins enough for playoffs? I remember hearing about a refund of about a $100 if you guys don't make the playoffs.

38 wins isn't enough.We will 33 last year.Theo/
Dickau should help us get about 5 wins extra
but not anything more.

The Hawks are sure to be giving money back
out.

You need about 42 wins to get into the playoffs
in the east.

When will you people learn (or, how many times do I have to post) that Terry is not a SG? He doesn't think so, the Hawks don't think so...even some of the national media finally have gotten a clue. His PG numbers were among the top in the league...similar to Francis, minus the high rebounds.

If Ratliff stays healthy, I think he's good for more than 5 wins. Of course, it's the staying healthy part that might be trouble.

Welcome to the site Hotlanta81.

Its always good to see fans from other cities join. I believe that Griffin could possibly start after the all star break. This kid has all the tools to be a star. I think that Ming could average 10-12 ppg and about 8 rpg. Althoug these numbers arent mind boggling, I think they are exactly what the Rockets need. He will be able to stretch out the opposing defense with his range.

Welcome to ClutchCity Hotlanta 81.Your kind comments about the site and the Rockets are greatly appreciated. I think Ming might be able to get around 8-9 points,6-7 rebounds and 1.5 blocks a game this year. Griffin will come off the bench as a 4.
Ratliff, Rahim and Terry are very good players. If Ratliff makes a solid recovery then they have a chance to make it to the post season.
I think if the Rockets get healthy they can win 40 games, and maybe more this year.
I want to see both the Rockets and the Hawks in the playoffs this year.

Hey hotlanta,

Is DerMarr Johnson ready to become a standout player or even a starter? I'll admit I don't know much about him, but last I heard he was a little skinny and raw.

I really hope somebody from that draft besides K-Mart becomes a real player in this league!

Well Dermarr is about 215 pounds now.He still looks
thin, but that is the way his body is always going to
look....but he is bigger. His defense is great,he held
Kedrick Brown(was having a great summer league)
to 3 points in 30 mins on 1-9 shooting.DJ hits the
3 well,he just lacks being aggressive. If he does that
he could be well.

As far his potential,I think he can be about as good
as the old Sean Elliot.Sean was a good player until
he started getting injured. He was even a allstar
twice I think.I'd take the old Sean Elliot as a 3rd
option=)

I'd say 12PPG,4RPG 1.5BLK but he needs to improve that
ball handling before he can become the 17-19PPG scorer
we hope he can become.

I hope you guys let Lewis. They would surely put you
guys in the playoff hunt.

Francis/Mobley/Norris/Rice/Williams/Ming/Cato/Thomas/
Langi/Griffin/Lewis/Torres/Nachbar

That's a playoff team and you and the Clippers would
be the new guys to the playoffs this year. That is a
mroe talented team that some people realize.I'd love
for us to have talent like that.

i always try to keep up with dermarr johnson's stats for my fantasy teams. some games he could shoot threes, steals and blocks, and other times he'd play 5 mins.

Sean Elliott was actually a great 2nd option. The guy had a great first step, and a very good three point shooter. If it had not been for injuries, Elliott would have at least two-three more all-star appearances on his resume.

Very unfortunate knee injuries brought his game down for a seasons at a time, and, of course, the very unfortunate kidney disorder cut his career short.

If Dermarr could become the offensive threat that Sean once was(Dermarr is also a few inches taller), the Hawks would be vastly improved.

Welcome, BTW.

I dink yao ming can have double-double figure in points and rebounds for sure. The altanta hawk wont be doing ne good this coming season for shure. They really need a dramatic change in lineup and players. Go go Rockets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's how i look at the Ming Situation. No man over 7'4" has ever been this skilled. I don't need to go into what he can do, we already know.
We don't need him to score. We have plenty of scorers in Francis, Mobley, Mo T. and soon Griffin and Bokie. We need him on the offensive glass more than the defensive. I can see him averaging close to 15 rebounds per game. I don't think that's much of a stretch either. He will alter more shots than he will block, which is just as good. Hakeem was great at that. As for his own scoring, he will still find a way to average at least 10. People don't talk enough about his passing. If the Rockets refer back to the style of play back in the championship years (dump it down to Hakeem, let him find an open player) Yao will thrive. He is a great passer, and you know Francis and Mobley will be slashing to the basket. With Yao at the top of the key, it will open up the inside for back door cuts and such.
But you're right RC Cola, even if he did average a meer 10, 8, and 2, that will be appreciated. But I see him doing much more than that, especially as he matures physically.

Remember when we beat the Sixers by 25 in Philly and Mo broke Theo Ratliff's wrist on a nasty dunk? Here is a clip that I found that shows Francis crossing up George Lynch, Bullard hitting a 3, and Mo breaking Theo's wrist. http://www.geocities.com/wink3online/videoclips/franciscrossovertaylordunk.avi It is 25 seconds long and 1.16 mb.
