okay so i havent studied every college eligible player for the draft, in fact i havent even looked at a mock draft, sorry i have a family and life after all. i do know they want running back though .
i just dont understand how last year Mays was considered a top three pick if he came out,now he is considered late first round just because of a injury? doesnt matter though, after the first running back is taken , the texans at 19/20 will have a pick of the 2nd or 3rd best rb in draft.
I have a family and life too - the difference is when I'm not with them, I still know what I'm talking about. Sometimes, sitting on the sidelines for a while and just reading is the best thing. And your notion that Bush or Gibbs made the draft pick for the Texans is equally ridiculous - you clearly have no idea what you're talking about. Assistant coaches have input for sure, but to say they get free reign to make the selection is utterly ridiculous.
Mays' stock has fallen because of his lack of coverage skills. He is an athletic freak with a ton of potential, but he was exposed quite a bit this season. And please show me where you read that Bush and Gibbs handpicked our players. I'm not trying to be rude but I read a TON about the Texans/NFL Draft and I have never read that once.
Kris Brown is still here because up until this year, he was as solid as any kicker in the league, and there was not a good kicker available to pickup mid-season. He will be gone if they can find someone that beats him out in camp next year.
Terrance Cody is a 3-4 DT. His job is not to get to the QB, his job is to smash into 2 guys at the same time so his linebackers can make plays.
Mays will regret not coming out last year, he would have been a sure fire Top 20 pick. The scouting reports on his coverage skills lately have not been kind to say the least.
Mays easily could've been a Top 10 pick last year. With the Raiders in the Top 10 again this year, there's a decent chance he could still go that high, especially if he performs as advertised at the combine.
I read somewhere that they are not running the Forty on the same track they did last year (which was a slower track overall) so the times could be a little faster. But that's why I said "as advertised." Mays could very well be the best athlete at the combine and as long as Al Davis is running things, anything is possible.
Plenty of teams get tricked by work-out warriors. Mike Mamula to the Eagles comes to mind. Davis is a horrendous judge of 1st round talent, but to his credit his later round picks turn out to be pretty decent.
Mayock's Top Prospect Ratings....NFL.com I'll post the more interesting rankings: Defensive tackles 1 Gerald McCoy* Oklahoma 2 Ndamukong Suh Nebraska 3 Jared Odrick Penn State 4 Dan Williams Tennessee 5 Lamarr Houston Texas McCoy over Suh? First time I've seen that. Nice to see Lamarr Houston get some love, think he is a very underrated player, maybe better suited as a 3-4 DE. I guess Mayock likes him better than Price. Running backs 1 C.J. Spiller Clemson 2 Ryan Matthews* Fresno State 3 Jahvid Best* California 4 Dexter McCluster Mississippi 5t Joe McKnight* Southern California 5t Jonathan Dwyer* Georgia Tech That's the lowest I've seen Dwyer ranked. McCluster is an interesting prospect, size is a big issue with him but he was very productive RB in the SEC which says a lot IMO. Safeties 1 Eric Berry* Tennessee 2 Taylor Mays Southern California 3 Earl Thomas* Texas 4 Larry Asante Nebraska 5 Chad Jones* LSU This maybe the best Safety class ever. I like ET over Mays and Jones over Asante though.
McCluster is the RB I want for the Texans. He can be a RB or move out to the slot depending on formation. Very fast and very quick. While I would like the Texans to do something about the Dline, I'd be very happy with a couple of guards and McCluster in the first three rounds.
Mt. Cody weighed in at 370 lbs. at Senior Bowl practice today. He's gonna have to lose some weight or his stock is gonna take a big hit. If stamina was an issue at Bama, it'll be a bigger issue with the extra 20 lbs. There's a pic, probably NSFW. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/football/nfl/01/26/terrence.cody.ap/index.html?eref=sihp
