According to Fox 26's (KRIV) Mark Berman, the Houston Rockets attorney Michael Goldberg will be in China tomorrow where his expectation is to wrap up the contract with Yao Ming. Most of the groundwork was finished up last month. They just have to sign the contracts and they fully expect to have him signed this week. Les Alexander said, "Do whatever it takes to get this guy under contract."

Clutch, I was going to add the same thing. I don't think Yao will actually sign on the dotted line until he is over here. I think Goldberg is just hammering out the previous stuff that he worked on before. os
http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/gen/wire?messageId=8874770 Wednesday, July 24 Rockets attorney returning to China -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Associated Press HOUSTON (AP) _ Houston Rockets attorney Mike Goldberg will return to China on Thursday hoping to complete contract negotiations with 7-foot-5 center Yao Ming, the No. 1 pick in last month's NBA draft. ``I received a call from the officials in China,'' Goldberg told Houston television station KRIV. ``They wanted me to come over to have face-to-face meetings to wrap up the contracts, to wrap up the deal. That's what we're doing.'' Goldberg said he saw no big issues holding back a contract. ``There's very little left to be done,'' Goldberg said. ``The contracts in the NBA with the first-round picks have certain areas you can negotiate and that's it.''
so what the news is sensational or is it the sensationalisation of non sensational news that is sensational....... I'm confused
You've confused me Smeg, but I've learned that a safe thing to do when posed an either or situation, particularly when the options do not seem to be exclusive, is to reply.. "yes".. BTW, congratulations on your immigration to the States, Smeg. Will you have to work for Outback Steak House the entire term of your green card or will Outback transfer it for you?
Man, I've got to hand it to this Goldberg guy. What a huge undertaking and he has completed every single step. Can you imagine if you showed up at work one day and the boss said, "Hey Mike, your new project is to iron out all the legal aspects of signing a Chinese basketball player to a multi-million dollar contract". Holy s***, I think I'd quit on the spot. give Goldberg a raise
