Yes but the difference is that Brian Cook gets scrub minutes at the end of blowouts, which are against other scrubs, and is only 1-2 minutes a game (where he made a few field goals). On the other hand, Tracy McGrady consistantly got 7 min/game against starters for six games, where he had to work his way back from injury, and where they are actually running the offense, while Cook's squad rarely runs offensive plays.
Also I would like to add, that in my standards, per 36 minute stats are only valid for players that play consistant minutes, in Tmac's case 7 min/game for six games. Not a valid argument for Brian Cook who consistantly (or rather inconsistantly) gets garbage time.
How bad does he have to be for you to think he sucks? 35% shooting? 25% shooting? I just want to see the baseline.
I will say this, with both players at their best, I think Manu is going to help you win a title more than Mr December would. Manu worried opposition teams during the playoffs. Mr December watched them on TV.
For me to say Tmac sucks, he has to shoot 35% on extended minutes. We all know (well I hope most of us know) that Tmac is a rhythm player. The more shots he gets, the higher the percentage. When I played high school ball, I would always miss my first couple of shots, but as the game wore on, I would always shoot a higher percentage. 7 mins/6 games is not nearly enough to evaluate Tmac. When he started to "shake the rust off" and it was obvious he was improving, he was dismissed from the team. For that reason, I would like him gone as soon as possible if we aren't going to play him. We need a talented wing player. Another thing, nobody in the NBA sucks. But if you have a player like Trevor Ariza, who is shooting around 37% on VERY extended minutes, it is obvious that his minutes need to be reduced or he needs to be in the package with Tmac.
Now I understand why you think he is a decent shooter still. As long he shoots over 35% in extended minutes, T-mac's scoring doesn't suck at all. It's almost as good as the scoring machine Ariza. LOLOLOLOL That's even funnier.
In 1 hour, we have gone from comparing him to Ginobili to Cook and Ariza in scoring and shooting. By tomorrow, we will be comparing him to Mike Harris and James White. Typical t-mac pattern gets worse every minute.
Um.. I dont believe you see my point. Throught Tmac's career he has shot around 42%. The execption was last year where he shot somewhere around 35%. (I don't remember the exact number, but I know it sucked) That being said, I don't believe he should have played at all last year, it was obvious that he was at an athletic disadvantage, and was hurting the team. Keep in mind this is the first 6 games AFTER MICROFRACTURE surgery, which is a major surgery in case you don't know. His last 2 games, where I think he was starting to get rhythm back, he was shooting about 45%. I do believe he is better than Ariza, especially with his decision making. There are many times where Trevor misses the open man because of impatience/lack of court vision. Oh well, I feel as if I'm talking to a 12 year old, your are not recoginzing my points, and you are respoding with lots of "LOLs"
How about his decision to not tell the Rockets that he was getting microfracture? T-Mac's looked flat the last couple of years. He no longer has any explosiveness. The games back since the microfracture haven't changed that.
i will say this both players at their best, Mcgrady WAS the team and manu ginobli was a great role player.Thats it. have you ever heard of manu ginobli being a superstar? Again championships are fine, but its about the player and manu had a completely different role than t-mac. T-mac had to do more for his team than ginobli.
Last time I checked, bball is a team game. Impossible to compare individual players with different roles and teammates. Manu fits the Spurs. Would T-mac fit? T-Mac carried the teams he´s played for for 82 games. Manu has never had to. Different situations. Not comparable. T-Mac´s a better scorer. They are both very good passers and rebounders. Both great players. No doubt in my mind.
You think that coming up with clutch plays in NBA finals games and deep playoff runs was of less importance than scoring a lot of points in games during December and not seeing the first round of the playoffs? Look, when its all said and done for a player, some guys will be able to say they were winners, and others will have to talk about how they were losers. We have seen guys like Allen Iverson drags horrible, horrible teams to the NBA Finals. We've seen guys like Paul Peirce play with scrubs and have long playoff runs. Two very good players, one ended up getting a title, the other didn't. Tracey McGrady didn't even get close to what these two players did with horrible teams. He never has, not at Toronto, Orlando or Houston. At what point is he just a loser. A guy who can't get the job done? Maybe its just because I'm getting older, but I'm past talking about what players coulda, shoulda and woulda done. I would much rather talk about the reality of the NBA today, and the reality is that Manu has won so much more than Tracy McGrady, has experiences so much more in terms of REALLY important games....its not even close. One is a winner, the other is a loser. One plays his ar$e off in the biggest games of the season, the other watches on TV. One just goes out and gets the job done, the other promises a lot but never delivers. And before anyone says that McGrady never had the team to go far....please! He played for one of the few clubs in the league that had a real franchise center, one that never once has taken a cut price option, a team that went out and got him another all star in Artest despite the ricks.....and what he has all of that....he shut it down and threw the club under a bus! Tracey McGrady deserves nothing from Rockets fans.
70? 50? The thing is, that Manu has never had the leading role for an extended period of time, where he had to carry the team. Again: Different roles. Not comparable.
One is a key player on championship winning teams. The other one was a key absentee in a team that finally broke through to the second round. You'd better believe they had different roles!
