This isn't always true. Carl Landry is worth significantly more right now than he was his rookie season. Sometimes players improve, and when they do, their trade value goes up. Another example of this would be Danny Granger, his trade value was much higher 4 years into his career than as a rookie or 2nd year player, and it was b/c his game had improved to the point that he was more or less the Pacers franchise guy.
I think if the Warriors had good veteran leadership (aka Battier) and a good coach like we have, they could be a .500 team. Not good, persay, especially in the cutthroat world of the Western conference, but not the complete mess they are now. That's what I mean by leadership. You need at minimum one leader if you're going to get somewhere, and Shane is the one guy on the Rockets whom can lead. More leaders isn't necessarily better than one, but you need one. Period. You're claiming you can tell exactly how a late first-round pick/second round pick rookie will end up. BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Age is one factor. Brooks is older than he was three years ago, but as his stats are way better, he's more valuable. I don't know why you don't understand this. And of course, you hopefully trade a player when they've hit their max worth, but I would argue Brooks can be better. And you're acting like I'm saying "Don't ever trade Brooks." Of course I'm not. I'm saying that Brooks can be traded when the time is right, and when you get a good deal. We're hopefully waiting for around the trade deadline, when we should get better deals for our assets. That simple. We're an average team without Yao (who I would bet should remain injury-free due to the nature of his surgery) and without using the assets of T-Mac's contract. We'll get better from where we currently are, so I don't see the need to hold the firesale like so many of you fools advocate.
Yes something needs to change with regards to the lineup now before we fall behind too far in the playoff race.
I'm not disappointed in the least. Yes I would like to have a better showing against the wolves and Bucks and teams I feel we should beat a little easier. Isn't this what we all expected though? This is a year to develop what's there and hopefully build toward next year. This team thus far has probably exceeded expectations so they hit a little low and everyone wants more. I feel like this team as constructed has hit it's ceiling for this year. So hopefully Yao comes back strong, we get something good for Tracy and make a strong push next year. I want this team to win more just like everyone else but let's start being realistic
Durvasa:An exact and accurate observation. One still wonders about the truth and McGrady, who we had hoped would have been the go to shooter. Now we all know the truth about McGrady and his sudden surgery to prevent the Rockets from Trading him Recently I spoke to my Chinese adviser who's opinion is that all the activities and revenge against McGrady had nothing to do with Coach Adelman, rather it was the Management/Ownership who had it in for McGrady. My appologies for all the terrible things I said about Coach Adelman.
Great observation DD !!How is that DD (and many of us)can see it so clearly, yet the Coaching/Management staff are blind to it.
I'm not sure what to call this year. If this was a true development year we would be playing Dorsey, Chase, and Taylor a lot more than what we have. I get the sense that we are trying to hang on as long as possible in hopes of a significant acquisition or two to make a strong push for the playoffs. And if Chase could help the team playing significant minutes I'm sure Rick would have made the move already. In Rick we trust.
Yeah, I agree, and I feel that urge at times too ... I'd just much rather have the bigger payoff down the line than the immediate small boost. I was initially hoping for a potential John Wall reward for this season, but the Rockets have shown they're better than that.
Exactly. When Yao comes back, Ariza and Battier will be the starters rather than C-bud: Defense wins the game. If you talk about 2012 or longer future, sure, play the potential.
People need to differentiate what Morey's job is and what Adelman's job is. IMO Morey is indeed looking long term and will not make a hasty band aid moves. He's not in a rush to trade Tmac and won't give up key rotation players so easily. This is an evaluation year, not so much as a rebuilding year, and Morey will find out what he really has in this team that he constructed for the most part and plan accordingly. Adelman's job is to win ball games and part of that is putting the players on the floor that helps the Rockets the best chance to win. I don't think he ever got the command from Les or Morey to tank the season and I don't think he'd ever do that anyways even if asked. So the notion that Dorsey and Taylor should get minutes because its a season of low expectations does not know Adelman's job.
All we really need to do is to start playing defense the whole game again and we will win more then we lose.
I saw it too. It seems the rocket still want to make playoffs this season. I remember Morey and Adelman mentioned the goal of this season was to make playoffs and let our young players gain some playoff experience.
The best way to develope is to win. Make the playoffs and get experience, that's Morey's philosophy, and I'm sure he wants to make the playoffs. The change: what I said 3 weeks ago, Andersen for Hayes.
