Does this mean the Rockets are the best educated team in the NBA?

    Lets get this straight...

Dorsey was NOT just a throw in.

Where was the value of Dorsey as a throw in? He was not signed to a contract so he was not needed to help any sort of matching contract. Dorsey was a second round pick so Morey was not obligated to sign him to any contract. Dorsey could have very well gone the way of so many other 2nd rounders and not even been signed but instead Morey gave Dorsey 2 guaranteed year.

Make no mistake about it...Morey wanted Dorsey.

DM has said about both players that they are the future of the center position.

    sigh

    heres what the rumors are

1.morey had to convince les to trade for battier instead of gay or sefolosha. I guess thats okay because im not a thabo or gay fan (no homo)

2.Rick picks brooks and lindsey picks landry, but i though lindsey was already with the spurs at that point?

3.whoever picked marty and novak got it wrong

4.whoever picked dorsey got it wrong, he was 25ish with NO offensive game, he was not a "blair"

5.getting greene was a morey mistake, but then again who else is there? chalmers? douglas roberts?

6.greene turns into artest, which is great, however, he throws in another 1st(big mistake) turns into casspi (stud better than cbud)

7.artest leaves and says all along he wanted to be on lakers not rockets, basically was not happy here, so basically DM traded casspi and greene for a mental case 1 yr rental artest....however artest did lead us to 2nd round so it depends on who you ask if you would rather have casspi or artest

8.ariza likes the rockets after playing in playoffs, never would have happened without artest getting us there, so thank ariza being here on indirectly artest getting us into second round

    9.ariza =mistake

    10. so basically instead of having casspi,greene,5million extra cap space, we have ariza and thats it.

    morey signs david anderson =mistake

von wafer , depends on who you ask. i see that as a good signing.

so basically adelman deserves more credit than morey because that brought us brooks.

morey was running the celtics and had al jefferson, gerald green, pierce and other crap leading to a league worse team, he leaves and a couple years later they have garnett, allen, pierce and win the championship. I will always wonder if morey stayed on that team would he have traded a young stud in jefferson for a aging expensive garnett. Whos to say the celtics maybe dont win a championship had morey stayed there. I dont think he would have traded for KG. Thats would be the equivalent of trading landry for amare. He wont do it.

I love the "Adelman is responsible for Brooks" fools so much, especially since I know that when Brooks was picked, this place was up in arms with "HOW DARE MOREY PICK BROOKS WE NEED JOSH MCROBERTS SO MUCH MOREY SUX."
Now that Brooks turned out to be a stud, it's Adelman's credit.

1st - Morey was not GM in Boston, Danny Ainge was (when Morey was there) and still is.
2nd - Morey is the GM so he gets credit for Chase, Taylor, Brooks, Landry, Scola, Anderson, Dorsey etc...
3rd - You can't just start saying someone else is responsible for all the hits and Morey was responsible for all the misses just because it gives you some sort of foundation for your argument.
4th - Anderson has been a good player so he is not a mistake.

okay, then explain why its in the freaking chronicle the day after draft Rick saying he was in portland watching the oregan ducks in the march madness and Loooooooved brooks ?? it was his pick. And he saw scola film before we made the trade and compared him to chris webber. Im starting to think Rick is the brains behind this whole team. Morey just throws in extra money and picks to teams to get the players Rick wants. Oh,and theres a rumor Cbud is Ricks pick also. If thats true then Rick is the genius not morey.

If that's the case, why in the world did he trade for Artest. You're not saying he would trade for Artest but not Garnett are you?

no im going by quotes from Rick himself in the paper. and anderson is a joke on defense. i never said morey was the gm of boston. twist my words again. morey i guess did nothing in boston. i was wrong, your right. ainge did it all. I said wafer was a hit. so again your wrong. i wasnt trying to even make a arguement you are. i was just laying out all the players to come here in past 3 years.

i started off by saying rumors. as in not facts, just rumors. READ.

So, Rick saying Brooks looked good in a workout meant Rick drafted Brooks? Great logic there buddy. You could be at least consistent because I'm fairly certain there was something about the Rockets liking Landry in his workout, so you might as well go all the way that Rick drafted Landry too. Then I can laugh harder.
And I will point that's the first time I've ever heard of the Cbud rumor. Ever. So you got any evidence of that, or you just shooting wind out your ass?

Furthermore, Andersen is a decent player for 3 million. Provides height and has good offense, and is definitely improving as he adjusts to the American game from where he was at the start of the season - oh wait, I forgot, he's 29. That means he can never improve on anything according to you.

There were many, many media reports after the draft that Adelman had his eye on Brooks. I think he was quoted about how Brooks always steps up under pressure. Adelman's home is in Portland so he had the opportunity to watch a bunch of Ducks games.

no he wont improve. primes for 99% of players is 27. fine good value at 3,000,000 there now you happy lol...lets see if anderson is fighting in the nba finals 1 day.

twisting my words again. what are you my ex gf or something? obviously your mad at me for something because you literally are following me thread to thread...."out of my ass" dude, yes im just repeating a rumor i read on here, sue me...oh thats right your not a lawyer

as far as brooks, i never said workout , i said march madness..wow so now march madness is a workout?

and this is why this team is where its at. if anderson makes you happy. then wow. yeah forget bosh , we have scola and anderson.

blah blah blah, you really think you change my mind dont you. wont happen. unfortuneately i repeat a quote i read in the paper and you call it false. If thats how you argue then i can make up lies and on your arguements.

For instance, unless you are the one and only DM and were in that draft room, then you are talking out of your ass also just like me.

Who are you? Why do you feel the need to state facts when you cant possibly know these facts unless you are on the inside. If you are, quit being scared and just say who you are. If you are just a fan like me, then all you have is what i have, and thats newspapers, articles, web rumors, and hearsay.

We will never know who picked brooks, so drop it. I read that Rick picked him from watching the college playoffs and yet you think its a workout. Unless one of us works on the inside we are both stupid for acting like we know everything. I posted CLEARLY that what i was about to state are rumors and you go APESH!t.......trust me girls will not like that about you. carry on being single.

Here's some information about the Brooks draft pick from somebody that actually talks to Adelman, instead of guessing what Adelman thinks.

When it comes to Morey, people either try to credit him or discredit him as much as possible. I'm definitely in the credit camp, so my comments below are probably also somewhat biased.

    1. Battier definitely Morey's trade. At that time Rockets in win mode, and certainly Battier is a valuable intangibles guy teams with championship aspirations want. The price may have been steep, but an understandable trade. DM couldn't have made decisions 3-4 years ago assuming TMac and Yao would be injured this frequently.

    2. It doesn't matter whether Rick liked Brooks or Lindsey liked Landry, Morey still made the decision to draft them. It's like if you work in a corporation and made recommendations to your boss, it's still the boss's job (and credit) to make the decision.

    3. Novak - we really don't know if he was DM's pick. Maybe, maybe not, but definitely loss cut quickly. Maarty definitely was DM's pick. Trivia for you - who are Mike Taylor, Sasha Kaun, James Gist, Joe Crawford, Deron Washington and Semih Erden? They are players drafted after Leunen in 2008. I don't think DM missed any stars in the making at pick 54. Leunen is actually an MVP candidate in the Italian League right now, with his team Cantu.

    4. Dorsey is likely a bust, DeAndre Jordan is better. Two-year $1m contracts are quite normal for inactive players in the NBA. L

5-7. Artest was the right move. One year-rental for a shot at the championship. Unfortunately injuries to Yao/TMac derailed plans. C'mon we took Lakers to Game 7 (and their hardest playoff series) without T-Mac, and with half of the games for Yao. Surely DM could not have predicted Yao would get injured in the middle of the 2nd rd playoff series. For two role-players (Greene and Cassipi) - btw hard to know in advance that the trade would turn out to be Cassipi who is indeed quite good - well worth the shot at a championship with a big 3.

8-10. DM would take a 25yr old Ariza over a 31yrd old Artest over the same 5yr contract any day, and so would I, especially considering how Ariza would look as the 4th-5th option behind Brooks, Yao, a star-acquired-from-trade and Landry/Scola next year. That was his role for the Lakers last year, and the Cavs would have paid him the same if not more in that capacity. Plus, Ariza will be infinitely easier to trade over the next 5 years than Artest.

    11. David Andersen - good value pick-up, good scorer, can spread the floor, poor defense, average rebounding ... but imagine DA with good defense and rebounding -> would cost Marcin Gortat price-tag or worse Troy Murphy price tag, and DM definitely wouldn't pick up someone with that price tag ahead of finally some roster and salary cap flexibility this year.

    12. Von Wafer - good signing, very good scorer, has some problems (like defense and willingness to pass the ball), but at right price hope can return as a Rocket. My guess is DM will revisit Von after the trade deadline. If we land a star 2, Chase is all we need as backup.

    13. I think DM is trying to do what the Celtics did, with the Rockets, using our current players. This is why I won't be surprised if it's not just TMac's salary that gets traded before the deadline. It may be plus existing players for a third fringe all-star. Give DM some time. The Celtics Big 3 didn't occur overnight either. I think the Rockets went the route of creating value for their players through wins, and not just hyped talent or high draft position. And Amare is not Garnett. If Phoenix had Garnett (one of top 2 defensive big man with Duncan over past decade ) instead of Amare to shore up the defense, they would have been much closer to the championships.

    14. If we do trade multiple players and TMac's contract for an all-star and a fringe all-star, then we will see whether Dorsey, Taylor etc can play, or Harris, Conroy get a call-up. Remember Brooks and Landry didn't start to get court time until 2H of their rookie season, and flourish until 2H of year 2.

    15. And with a shortened roster (eg trading multiple players for a fringe all-star), perhaps we may even get a Leunen or Newley sighting next year! It's interesting how DM's stashed a potential rotation player at each position either at the end of the roster, in the D-League, or in Europe. C - Dorsey. PF - Leunen. SF - Harris. SG - Taylor/Newley. PG - Conroy/LLull can all be capable 9-15th man options at a low contract. I think that means DM's not averse to doing a 3-for-1 (fringe) all-star trade.

    16. I would be pissed if we don't do something by the trade deadline or this off-season. If we don't , maybe I'll switch camp

I doubt anybody is contesting Morey wanted Dorsey. What I'm saying is as a throw-in to the deal, he cost nothing to acquire. And getting mad about him being a bust is, like I said getting mad about the free umbrella the bank gave you.

I think it's fairly safe to say that drafts/trades are a team effort By that I mean that a GM isn't going to draft a player the coach doesn't like, and a coach isn't going to get a player that the GM doesn't think has the right value. Essentially, a player doesn't end up on the team unless both coach and GM are on board.

As well, I think part of the Rockets success is that the team is very deliberate in recognizing the talents/skills of a player, getting the player to develop those skills and other essentials, and then actually using them in the game. Rick is the right coach for that as he's very adaptable, unlikely a coach like JVG. For example, both Scola and Landry were not outside shooters when they came on board. Now, it's pretty consistent for both. Lowry (not a draft pick, I know). Was buried on the bench on a crappy team, yet we saw his skills and figured out how to use him, despite what he couldn't do.

I get the impression that alot of franchises leave it up to the player to sink or swim, while the Rockets see it as their job to do all they can to keep the player swimming, even it means their best stroke is the dog paddle.

Your words need not be twisted, but your sentences require parsing. Your arguments might seem more reasoned if explained in something resembling proper usage.

Is it just possible to conclude that neither the Rox, nor any major level team organization, works (successfully) in a vacuum? A good read (google, please, if necessary) was Bob Kraft on Pete Carroll's tenure in NE; and how it affected subsequent decisions on management style and implementation.
