Look if we were the Charlotte Bobcats, then the Tmac era would be a success. I don't think the Bobcats have even made the playoffs. But Tracy went to the Houston Rockets and the standards and expectations are high because of 34
the reason why tmac "failed" as the way you put it is because he courageously played through a BACK INJURY when he should have been RESTING and also two guys named RAFER ALSTON and LUTHER HEAD could not make a shot when it counted.
So what? Isiah Thomas played with one leg <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/JwoBSc4IzMA&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/JwoBSc4IzMA&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Willis Reed <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/SWqQR_G0_Zc&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/SWqQR_G0_Zc&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
jump off a cliff. a 99er and you still create low quality threads. guess a decade of posting has made you dull and predictable.
well i predicted suckers like you go on this thread cause 99er threads are popular. if this is low quality then why are on it like an adidas jersey clearance sale?
Tracy era would still be a failure even we were the Bobcats. Everyone expects a supposed super star making that much money, to make it out of the first round at least. Yea.. Hakeem has definitely set the bar high for the Rox. Way too high.
lol@ Yao has made it past the first round. I love how in Houston you are classified as a non failure by making it past the first round. Man we have high standards here. I'm sure other playoff teams go well we may not have won a championship but at least we made it out of the first round yea....no. And if you are trying to insinuate that if Mcgrady was playing last year then the Rockets wouldn't of made it out of the first round you are making a foolish assumption. It took the Rockets to get Arest and Lowry and better roleplayers for Yao to even make it out of the first round. If Mcgrady had been playing they would of even possibly gone deeper. So don't pull that Yao has made it out of the first round and Mcgrady hasn't crap. We got lucky to match up with the Blazers last year, we would of been in trouble if we faced another team built like the Jazz who match well with us.
Why did the T-Mac era fail in Orlando? Should he have ever been regarded as a superstar player? Heck, in Michael Jordan's era with the Bulls, the fewest wins the Bulls had was 30, and that was in his second season in which he missed 64 games with a broken foot. Other than that, the fewest wins the Bulls had was 38, which was in his rookie season. Keep one thing in mind that those Bull teams in Michael's early years in the league were regarded as garbage surrounding him. What I'm getting at about T-Mac's era in Orlando is how on earth can a team with a superstar end up with only 19 wins in one season? Go figure. Also, read my sig, please.
One man can only do so much. Injuries are just a part of the game, but you also have to look at the supporting players (my vote). Look at Kobe, arguably the best player in the game today, after Shaq/before Gasol. He couldn't get out of the first round either. But then you might say, "Well T-Mac had Yao." Good point, but did he have a Bynum, a Lamar Odem, a Karl Malone, a Gary Payton. Hell even Derek Fisher is better than all of our role players in 2005-2008. Lakers role players stepped up big time. Remember 0.4 seconds? That wasn't Kobe, that was a role player. The fact is, role players have to step up in the playoffs to advance, and last year, we saw that with Aaron Brooks in game one, Shane Battier in game 4/6. The last season T-Mac was in the playoffs? Only two players scoring in double-figures (T-Mac with 40, Scola with 15). That just isn't going to get it done.
When Mcgrady was in Orlando he was the only legit player on that team. Plus he does not have the physical skill set like a Lebron or Jordan to single handily carry his team.
The Yao era is not over and he's been more successful than Tmac, Did I say Yao won a championship. I'll summarize all of you Tmac fans with your own words "IF MCGRADY" Rocket fans aren't about the "IFs" dude. Can you give a factual statement instead making a bunch "IF" scenarios? Yao DID win a playoff series Tmac DID NOT win a playoff series with the Rockets. for you. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/FdD6RMICpfg&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/FdD6RMICpfg&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
1) Terrible officiating. In 04, Yao and T-Mac were 100%, and they killed the Rockets. Go watch the final 7 minutes of the 2007 Rox vs. Jazz series. Count how many travels the refs let the Jazz run away with. 2) Injuries. J-Ho > RyBo. I don't feel like listing the rest. 3) Supporting cast sucked when our stars were fully healthy. Tracy, Sura, and Barry were really close in 05. They got together and angrily discussed how the league was fixed. They were never the same after those playoff games.
It's not just Houston, it's any city in the league. McGrady didn't say "It feels great to finally be in the second round" in Houston. If you can't make it past the first round, ever, there's going to be questions about how well you can function as a piece of a team. It's not just that he can't get out of the first round, it's all the issues that swirl around him. His drama queen hissy fits, his inability to get along with coaching/management in whatever city he ends up in. Nobody questioned Pistol Pete's heart. McGrady's an outstanding talent. He's a lousy teammate. That's what they'll write on the gravestone of his NBA career.
The fact that you state Tmac was a failure because Yao made won ONE playoff series is a joke. Heres a fact for you. Mcgrady raises his performance in the playoffs. Yao lowers his. Thats looking at pure stats. And stats don't lie.
