I would like to have him back instead of Trevor to be honest, just not on a 5 year contract. But I do miss him, wish he had signed with us for 3 years.
So the Rockets had the most success they have had in over a decade with him as the leader yet you call it a disaster, I don't get it. I would hardly call what he did a chemistry killer seeing as they played well with him
Personality and toughness only. Everything else, not so much. He had a rocky beginning of the season going in and out the lineup. And up and down playoff performances. I'm not a lame that needs a "steady hand". I guess I'm mostly relieved the Rockets didnt hand him $10+ million a season. He was as solid 1 year rental for me.
exactly his overall impact was quite positive even with Ron struggling playing the role of a 2 (which he undoubtedly is not)
I'll sneak in and do that using the same site http://www.82games.com/0910/09HOU6.HTM#onoff Trevor Ariza '09-10 Defense ON court: 108.1 Defense OFF :105.7 Defense gives up +2.4 more points with Ariza ON the court lol http://www.82games.com/0809/08LAL7.HTM#onoff Trevor Ariza '08-09 Lakers Will say there's virtually no change in his on-off in any of the categories. Lakers were the same with him on and off the floor. Half a point better at most
+1 for taking the time to edit this picture in the basic pain program provided with the windows operating system. and we need to find that guy and find out what was so funny.
he was probably laughing at the Tmac slam attempt at the bucks game. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/PKggO62YPs4&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/PKggO62YPs4&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Well, he did that the first thing arriving LA, and he donned his new haircut in the debut game he played for the Lakers; he changed it to the LA Lakers logo, and had the Chinese words Guan Jun by the side....which means Champion.
He did some things ok, some bad......I still think he was a bad fit with Yao and Tmac, who are weak leaders. DD
Well Tmac didn't play half the season or the playoffs. I thought he played well when Yao was in, or at least played with more control. It did satisfy the Rocket fans need for a Vernon Maxwell/Mario Elie tough player.
I love how so many toolboxes claimed Artest was no longer an elite defender, lost a step, and certainly wasn't going to be elite going forward. Wrong....Wrong. Shot selection was questionable...he was playing a lot of 2 for a guy that's not a 2 kinda reminds me of someone else...
Funny you say that because I believe that was the most important thing he brought to the team (vocal leadership). You can argue his shot selection all you want (along with T-Mac too), but Ron got the team fired up, especially defensively and when T-Mac was done.
Adding to this, will say the thing I liked about Artest was how adept he was at getting steals. He has great pickpocket hands and instincts on defense around the ball. Not so much the passing lane deflections. He would straight in the player's face swipe the ball right out of his hands off their dribble. He didnt always have the footspeed to stay in front of them. But he could go right up to a dribbler at half court and take the ball from them like his own full court press. So its not like his personality and toughness was his lone unique attribute. Havent seen that much in Rockets players in recent years. Ariza is closest.
