Rivers is the better QB, but Eli has had a better chance to win due to the players he was surrounded by in previous years.

But now I'd say Rivers has the better team, and is no doubt the better QB

he has the better team you say, and is the better quarterback, but he can't beat the jets. eli won the superbowl over the patriots who were at the time undefeated.

If you are simply asking who is the better QB the stats will say Rivers with a career passer rating of 95.8 the second highest for a career in NFL history. Compared to Mannings career rating of 79.3.

To say that Manning is better because he beat the Patriots would have some legitimacy, but as everyone knows the playoffs are a different monster than the regular season. Not to mention the Giants defense played very well in that game, and if not for a David Tyree miracle catch Eli would probably yet to have won a ring.

As we've seen it's all about getting hot at the right time. Something the Jets have done this year similar to what the Cardinals and Giants did in previous years. All of those 3 teams I just mentioned snuck into the playoffs as underdogs and were able to overwhelm teams.

A huge factor in Rivers struggles today was the pass rush of the Jets defense. Something he bad never truly seen previously this past season.

Other than catching fire to make that run to the Super Bowl, Eli Manning has had a very mediocre career.

It seems that Rivers is a very good to excellent quarterback very consistently.

Rivers is a better QB. Manning better time to make him look good.

Rivers is a good regular season QB. In the playoffs, his career rating is 79.2 with more Ints the TDs. I know he had the one game where he was playing hurt, but his performance declines in the playoffs.

Doesn't picking Rivers include the draft picks he came with? To me, that was a huge part of the deal!

without the incredible superbowl run, and eli played a big part no doubt, this wouldn't even be a question

Rivers is clearly the better QB, even though he's a colossal douche.

Its like Trent Dilfer vs. Dan Marino.

Can one Super Bowl run fueled by a great defense outweigh a QB that puts up huge passing numbers?

But aren't we picking the better QB and not the better team?

As for Eli vs Rivers, anyone bringing in Eli's super bowl win as strong evidence needs to make it an Eli/Tyree package.

This is a great point. Post more Beck! Rivers is a great regular season QB and as consistent as they come but his post season drop off is a bit alarming. I'm still taking Rivers over Eli though.

Jets beat the Chargers, therefore Mark Sanchez is a better QB than Rivers. Giants beat Pats a few years ago, therefore Manning was better than Brady. But the Giants lost to the Panthers this year so Matt Moore must be better than Manning. And the Chargers beat the Giants heads up so . . .

Maybe when comparing individual players, we should just compare how those players performed instead of how the teams as a whole performed. OK?

That is the point. Eli was big in winning the Super Bowl, but so was Trent Dilfer. Rivers has had to carry the Chargers in the postseason. Tomlinson has been injured the last two years, and is now beyond his prime.
